Choice Of Races For Cape Kidnappers

The injury-plagued Cape Kidnappers has come through his latest test in good order with trainer Kelly Schweida to decide his next assignment later in the week.
Schweida has entered Cape Kidnappers in the $175,000 Listed Lough Neagh Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on Saturday as well a 1200m handicap on the program.
Cape Kidnappers resumed from a six month break to run third to Big Money in the George Moore Stakes on December 6 with the winner to contest the Lough Neagh.
"It is a bit unusual to have a 1350 metre open stakes race and a 1200 metre open handicap on the one program," Schweida said.
"The 1200 of the open will suit Cape Kidnappers better at this stage of his campaign. But I don't know if there are enough open company horses in Brisbane for fields to stand up in both races."
Five of the sprinters - Cape Kidnappers, Adebisi, Finishing Card, Renewed Vitality and Whisky Allround - are entered in both races.
Now a seven-year-old, Cape Kidnappers has had just 15 starts for nine wins and four minor placings.
"It has been well documented that he has had a series of injury problems. It always happens with the good ones," Schweida said.
"But he had a good blow after his George Moore run and I think he is ready to race very well on Saturday."
Big Money, who is trained by Rod Northam at Scone, is top rated at 104 for the Lough Neagh which is a quality handicap.
Veteran sprinter Phelan Ready is among the entries for the 1200m race.
The winner of the 2009 Magic Millions-Golden Slipper double, Phelan Ready had to wait until August this year to win another race, taking out a 1400m handicap at Eagle Farm.
