Victorian Trainer Hit With Bicarb Charge

Victorian trainer Mark Riley has been formally charged with administering a prohibited substance to one of his horses.
The Riley-trained Gold For Kev returned elevated TCO2 levels in a pre-race sample prior to finishing unplaced in a race at Sandown on July 13 last year.
The trainer pleaded guilty to bringing a horse to the races with a prohibited substance in its system but not guilty to administering a banned substance or causing it to be administered.
However, the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary (RAD) Board on Thursday found the charges against Riley to be proven correct.
A hearing date for the penalty has been adjourned.
Under the Australian Rules of Racing, Riley faces a minimum three-year ban.
