Sunday's Strathalbyn Races Report

Apprentice Jordan Frew had one of his finest days in the saddle when he landed a treble at the Langhorne Creek Vigneron's Race Day at Strathalbyn on Sunday.

Combining with Strathalbyn based mentor John Mcmillan Frew rode his first two winners in successive races on Final Command Zakumi while the victory of the David Jolly prepared Imperial Line gave Frew his third winner in the next race.

The Commands four year old gelding Final Command brought up his second win in a row for his trainer John Macmillan and rider Jordan Frew, giving the pair the first leg of back to back winners, in the 1600 metre sixth event.

Starting the $3.60 popular elect and being out of a Singspiel mare Final Address, Final Command started well before drifting back to a midfield position but had enough speed over the concluding stages to go on and beat the Philip Cole trainer Damien Robinson ridden Owdatay $5.

The Peter Moody trained Libby Hopwood ridden Knoxville $5.50 was a farther one and a half lengths away third, bringing up a trifecta for the locals.

John Macmillan and Jordan Frew brought up a race to race double when Zakumi $4.20 scored a short head win in the 1200 metre seventh race.

An Encosta de Lago gelding from the El Qahira mare Londolozi, Zakumi was on the pace throughout and beat the John Dunn prepared Amy Herrmann ridden Black Whiskey $20.

The $21 chance Kellerman was a farther half head away filling the minor placing for Judy Potts and Scott Westover.

Jordon Frew brought up his third winner when steered the David Jolly change Imperial Lines to a two and a quarter length victory in the last race which was run over 1350 metres.

Priced at $9 when the starter sent the field on their way the Refuse to Bend fathered Imperial Lines, from My Duchess, a daughter of Royal Academy, was in the first four throughout the race and went on to defeat the Gary Bower cared for Matthew Neilson guided On The Trail $14.

John Macmillan and Justin Potter were associated with Gumnuts, the $2.70 favourite, who was another half length away third.

Three other local trainers shared in the winning spoils on the day- they were Shane Oxlade with Jestquill, Brian Mueller tasted success when the first starter Nelcitus won while Barry Dunn supplied the winner of race four Scublands.

Strathalbyn trainer Shane Oxlade and jockey Justin Potter drew first blood for the locals when Jestquill, the $1.35 favourite, was the five and three quarter length winner of the 0-64 Handicap of 1350 metres, the opening race of the day.

A Real Jester three year old gelding from the Brondesbury mare Bronsquill, Jestquill was always well placed and beat the Peter A Jones charge, the Adrian Patterson ridden Real Fantasy $4.

The William Smart cared for Simon Price ridden Our Cover Girl $5 was a farther two lengths away third.

Jockey Damien Robinson celebrated his return to the saddle when he scored a one length win on the Rob Wilkinson prepared Aussie Blue $9 in the 2050 metre second race.

From the Movie Maker mare Ivy's Model and sired by Akhadan Aussie Blue came from well back and powered home to beat the $2- 80 favourite Major De for local trainer Emma Hubbard and rider Todd Pannell.

King Roseland $4, who is destined for a jumping career, was a farther five and three quarter lengths away third for Ken Matson and Justin Potter.

Owner, trainer and breeder Brian Mueller brought up the second local victory when the Claudia Lions ridden Nelcitus $7 was the half length winner of race three which was contested over 1100 metres.

Sired by the former Mueller galloper Adam from the Blevic mare Double Spirit, Nelcitus scored a half length win over the David Jolly trainer Jordan Frew piloted God's Way $3.

The early leader Bag of Wheat $7 was a farther two and a quarter lengths away third for Paul Seater and Simon Price.

Trainer Barry Dunn brought up a trifecta for the local training brigade when his charge Scrublands $7, with apprentice Jackson Matthews in the saddle, was the two and three quarter length winner of race four which was run over 1350 metres.

Sired by the USA bred entire Timber Country from the General Nediyum mare Nireen, Srublands was well in contention throughout the event and beat the David Jolly prepared Justin Potter ridden Assertive Spirit, the $2.40 favourite.

Belikeme $21 was a farther three quarters of a length away third for Paula Trenwith and Shane Cahill.

Joining forces with Murray Bridge trainer Craig Stewart jockey Paul Gatt recorded a long neck win on the eight year old Mutahassin gelding Ciro Prince in the 1350 metre fifth race.

Mothered by the Thameen mare Ciro Lady, Ciro Prince $6 came from a rearward position to beat the Stuart Padman prepared Justin Potter ridden Testate $4.60.

Bold Line $6 was another short neck away third for John Hickmott and Adrian Patterson bringing up a trifecta for the Murray Bridge track.
