Twenty Three for Hawkes' Bay Feature

Twenty-three horses, including Cent Home, Conquistar, Distinctly Secret, Hail, Hello Dolly, Kaapstad Way, Prized Gem and Pure Theatre have stood their ground for Saturday’s Hastings feature, the Gr.2 Glenmorgan Hawke’s Bay Challenge Stakes.

Hawke’s Bay Racing chief executive John McGifford is predicting a firm track, with the Hastings surface currently reading 2.4 on the penetrometer.

Other highlights on the day are the Gr.3 Highview Stakes, the first race in the New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year Series, and the Gr.3 Sideline Bar Hawke’s Bay Guineas.

The Highview has attracted 18 entries, including Danceinthesun, La Rumba, Simply the Best and Cheetie, winner of the listed Waikato Stud Stakes at Wanganui. With just 11 nominations, entries remain open for the Guineas, as is the case with the intermediate 1600.
