Oakleigh Girl's Racing Days Are Over

Queensland filly Oakleigh Girl's racetrack career is over and she will be served by Sebring in the spring.

A Group Three winner on debut at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day in 2013, Oakleigh Girl ran second to Unencumbered in the 2014 Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

She also won the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes at Doomben and earned more than $500,000 prize money during a career restricted to seven starts.

By Oakleigh Plate winner Snitzel out of another Oakleigh Plate winner Miss Kournikova, the filly never made it to the race for which she was named.

She had just one start as a three-year-old, finishing unplaced in the Group Two Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield in February.

Trainer Dan Bougoure handled Oakleigh Girl throughout her career and said she was a top class galloper even though she did not reach her potential.

"She did a good job but now it is off to stud. I understand she is to go to Sebring this breeding season," Bougoure said.

Fellow Queensland trainer Kelly Schweida is looking for suitable race to send Discreet out a winner before she goes to stud.

Schweida scratched Discreet from an open handicap at Doomben on Saturday when he wasn't totally happy with her blood count.

"At this stage she is going to I Am Invincible in the breeding season and we would love to win another race with her," he said.

The Listed Calaway Gal is also among the races won by Discreet who has eight wins from her 38 starts so far.
