Cox Plate The Aim For Italian Derby Winner

This year's Italian Derby winner Goldstream has been acquired by Australian Bloodstock and his new owners are hoping to win the Cox Plate.
Goldstream is unbeaten in five starts and has been transferred from trainer Stefano Botti to German Andreas Wohler.
Wohler trained Protectionist when the horse carried Australian Bloodstock's colours to victory in last year's Melbourne Cup before the horse stayed in Australia to be trained by Kris Lees.
Jamie Lovett, a director of Australian Bloodstock, said they had been following Goldstream's progress for a while and are excited about his prospects.
"He couldn't have been any more impressive in the Italian Derby and that form has since franked itself several times in both France and Germany. He's a lovely horse," Lovett told RSN radio in Melbourne.
Lovett said they would look to boost the horse's profile to hopefully attract a Cox Plate invitation, as the weight-for-age race at Moonee Valley in October is a target.
"Andreas is keen to campaign the horse in France but we just want to look for some nice races to, I guess, lift his profile and hopefully gain an invitation to the Cox Plate," Lovett said.
"It's a little bit left-field, the Italian form, so we just need to put him in the eyes of the decision makers.
"He's a serious horse."
Goldstream is expected to travel to Australia in September.
