Trust In A Gust Nearing Race Return

After an aborted Brisbane winter campaign, Trust In A Gust is nearing a return to the racetrack.

A dual Group One winner last spring, Trust In A Gust is set to resume in the Group Three Aurie's Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on August 8.

He hasn't raced since finishing a close second to Red Bomber at Caulfield in April, his only autumn start

His 2014 spring victories included the Group One double of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) and the Toorak Handicap (1600m).

In early May Trust In A Gust was heading north to Brisbane chasing more Group One victories but his campaign was aborted after a mishap on the tarmac when he was about to be loaded on the plane.

Trainer Darren Weir said Trust In A Gust was moving along nicely in preparation for his return and had a gallop at Ballarat on Saturday under regular rider Brad Rawiller.

"He'll resume in two weeks," Weir said.

"He'll run in the 1200 at Flemington and then he'll run in the first Group One, the Memsie.

"Brad galloped him on Saturday and said he's in good order."

While Trust In A Gust is progressing well for his return, Weir says Lucky Hussler is a little behind in his preparation.

Lucky Hussler gave Weir his third Group One win of season 2014/15 when successful in the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley in March.

He has not been seen since his seventh to Flamberge in the Goodwood at Morphettville in May.

"He's good but he's a little bit further behind," Weir said.

"The Emirates is his goal."

Lucky Hussler finished second to Hucklebuck in last year's Emirates Stakes on the final day of the Melbourne Cup carnival.
