Hugh Bowman Claims Sydney Jockeys' Title

Hugh Bowman has clinched his third Sydney jockeys' premiership with victory aboard Sebring Sun in the second race at Canterbury on Wednesday.

The hotly contested title had an anti-climatic ending when Bowman's nearest challenger James McDonald was stood down from his remaining rides after succumbing to illness following the first race.

Blake Shinn, the only other jockey in mathematical contention, picked up one of McDonald's mounts but the extra ride wasn't enough to keep him in title contention.

Bowman skipped out of reach with his win on Sebring Sun, taking him to 95 wins this season, 4-1/2 clear of Shinn who has four rides remaining at the Canterbury meeting.
