Brown Out To Parlay Moonee Valley Success

Matthew Brown has always had a soft spot for Moonee Valley.
Growing up, his family had a number of winners at the city circuit and last Friday night at Moonee Valley the young trainer landed his first metropolitan success.
The night got even better with Brown leaving Moonee Valley with a winning double, courtesy of Little Bita Spunk and Kiss Me Ketut.
"That's four winners now and a hell of a lot of placings," Brown said of his fledgling career.
"I've got some really nice horses now that are capable of winning races."
On Saturday Little Bita Spunk returns to Moonee Valley to contest a benchmark 70 race over 1600m.
The race, restricted to three-year-olds, carries Super VOBIS and VOBIS Gold bonus money of $50,000 that Brown says he's happy to chase for the immediate future.
"There's some good money up for grabs," he said.
"It's just as good winning one of these races as winning a little stakes race.
"He's probably not far off looking for the paddock anyway and having a freshen up."
Apprentice Jessica Payne, who guided Little Bita Spunk to victory in the 1523m race, will retain the ride on the son of Magnus.
Brown said Payne's 3kg claim is an added bonus for the gelding which is chasing a hat-trick after breaking through with a Cranbourne maiden win last month.
"Jess gave him a perfect ride the other night," Brown said.
"He's only a small horse so every little bit of help you can give him the better."
Kiss Me Ketut is also a nomination on Saturday for a mares race over 1200m but Brown said she would be saved for the night meeting at Moonee Valley on December 4.
"There's a couple of benchmark 70 races, one for fillies and mares and one open, that will suit her," Brown said.
"I'll nominate for both races and weigh-up which one to go to."
