GENERAL - As B Courtney, M Dickson and App T McGovern were unavailable for various reasons the following substitutions were allowed - Race 1 - L Cook on PAT ALONE, Race 2 - App C Franklin on FORCEFULLY, Race 3 - App T Yeung on CASH ON LOAN and G Farrer on HIT THE FAN, Race 4 - G Farrer on DEE'S ABLAZE and Race 5 - G Farrer on ELOQUENTO.
Race 1 - MAIDEN PLATE 1100 METRES
Near the 250m PEGGLES, which was weakening, was eased when crowded between SPACE COWBOY and HIGHER PROFIT which was hanging in noticeably and shifted some ground at this point. NORTRAM, which was following, was hampered in consequence.
Race 2 - CLASS THREE HANDICAP 1400 METRES
When questioned on FORCEFULLY racing back in the field today App C Franklin said that he was instructed to have his mount racing handy to the lead but it was slightly slow away and was then hampered by TRITORTE which shifted out. He said he then anticipated that DESTRUCTIVE HABIT would push forward to his inside but on settling that horse was eased back and he was caught wide to its outside and obliged to come back with it. Trainer Ms V Medhurst confirmed the instructions.
Race 3 - CLASS ONE & MAIDEN PLATE 1516 METRES
JILIGAN was slow to begin and was then checked away from DARBONDER which began awkwardly and shifted out. In the early stages RUNYON BEAUTY pulled hard and after the 1200m it had to be checked off the heels of DANE QUEEN.
Race 4 - CLASS FOUR HANDICAP 2000 METRES
No incidents.
Race 5 - CLASS TWO HANDICAP 1000 METRES
COSMIC FLARE stumbled badly at the start and lost considerable ground. DUVAL'S ZARB was slow to begin. Near the 450m ELOQUENTO bumped the running rail when momentarily crowded to the inside of ANOTHER JACK which was hanging in away from THEATRE REIGN. ANOTHER JACK hung in down the running and proved difficult to ride right out. On the point of the home turn CORRCO was disappointed when attempting a narrow run between ANOTHER JACK and THEATRE REIGN. Over the concluding stages CORRCO (L Cook) shifted out under pressure and hampered ANOTHER JACK, SVALBARD and THEATRE REIGN. Cook was told to exercise much more care in future.
