MACPOMP jumped outwards when released and bumped HIGH PLAINS out onto ROSIE AGAIN resulting in HIGH PLAINS becoming unbalanced and losing ground. Trainer Mr R Barnes was questioned over the non competitive performance of HIGH PLAINS, and stated that he was amiss as to why the horse had performed so poorly today and was therefore instructed that HIGH PLAINS would have to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards until such time as it became more competitive. As jockey M Webber was transported to the local hospital, Stewards took some evidence from jockeys T Treichel (SPORTS PACK) and A Nicholls (PORT EXPRESS) and adjourned the inquiry until such time that jockey M Webber was able to attend. PORT EXPRESS was checked from the heels of ONDINES near the 800m when ONDINES shifted out away from the riderless horse FRUIT DELIGHt, resulting in PORT EXPRESS losing ground.

Nearing the 600m BOLTON CREEK rolled in and bumped NEVER JEST resulting in BOLTON CREEK becoming unbalanced. NEVER JEST had a tendency to lay in shortly after straightening away from MOTTO BABY and then again nearing the 100m NEVER JEST again shifted inwards causing jockey M Hanneybel some concern in riding the mare out.
