Unbeaten O'Sullivan Galloper Prepares for Return

Zafar, the winner of his only start in the autumn, is beginning to quicken up in his work for trainer Paul O'Sullivan.

The slow maturing Zabeel gelding lived right up to his reputation when he won his home-track debut in May. An early winter spell followed and after a stone-bruise hindered his progress recently, he has now begun to speed up in training.

"We're in no hurry with him," said Paul O'Sullivan this morning as the big gelding was put through a quiet gallop by his brother Lance. "He'll be ready to trial or race later on next month and his first target of any sort will be the Dunstan Stayers' Series."

O'Sullivan will line up a large team of horses at Thursday's Taupo trials. Proven stable members Bahira, Lutaana, The Player and newcomer Mojo will step out along with several untried youngsters.
