Star Kiwi Juvenile Lady Dehere Back on Track

One of last season's leading New Zealand two-year-olds, Lady Dehere (Dehere-Express A Smile), will return to the racing scene at Wanganui on Saturday.

Co-trainer Graeme Sanders said Lady Dehere will begin her new campaign in the $25,000 Waikato Stud Stakes (1200m), a Listed race for three-year-old fillies at the Wanganui meeting.

"She is quite forward and I expect her to give a good account of herself on Saturday," Sanders said.

"She hasn't grown at all since her two-year-old campaign but she is a lot stronger," he said.

Lady Dehere's major win as a two-year-old came in the rich Mercedes Super Bonus Classique (1200m) at Te Rapa in February. She also triumphed in the Group Two BNZ Matamata Breeders Stakes (1200m) at Matamata last season.

Those performances earned Lady Dehere a Free Handicap rating of 56.5kg - the second highest rating for a two-year-old filly behind her stablemate Danceinthesun who was rated at 57kg.

Danceinthesun is on track to make her three-year-old debut at Ellerslie on Saturday week in a progressive 1200m event.

The Sanders' stable will have its traditional attack on the opening two-year-old race at Wanganui with last weeke's Cambridge trials winner Romadile (by Armidale) lining up along with an Anziyan colt who finished second at the Cambridge trials.
