Kiwi Jock Breaks Leg After Trackwork Tragedy

Matamata lightweight jockey David Johnson suffered a suspected broken leg when a young horse he was riding dropped dead during trackwork this morning.

The accident happened when Johnson's mount was working towards the end of an organised jumpout on the Matamata course proper. The horse is believed to have suffered a heart attack.

Johnson was scheduled to continue his successful association with Danzapride in Saturday's Mudgway Partsworld Stakes at Hastings.
