Race 1CLASS B HCP - 1200 metres:

As B Davis (a), who had been replaced due to ill health on Saturday 9th July, 2005, failed to produce a medical certificate as instructed stewards permitted M Morita (a) to replace him as the rider of GAY DECEPTION.  B Davis (a) was again notified that he will not be permitted to fulfil any race rides until he produces a medical certificate satisfactory to the stewards.

Race 2CLASS B HCP - 1600 metres:

Ms L Williams, trainer of EMPOWERMENT was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR140(a))

On jumping away THY SPUR shifted out taking WARINGA FLYER out onto EMPOWERMENT and it in turn out onto SCHOBI BARU.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected BLUEGRASS PAINTER subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding appeared to have a cardiac arithmia.  Stewards notified Ms M Boothby, trainer of BLUEGRASS PAINTER that prior to the gelding racing again she must produce a satisfactory veterinary certificate which must include an ecg after working.

Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon inspected FUNNYSIDEUP which performed poorly and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality.

As KING CONNOLLY was not able to be placed in the barriers, stewards ordered the withdrawal of that gelding at 4.12pm.  Subsequent to the event stewards ordered all monies wagered on KING CONNOLLY to be refunded and the following betting deductions.  All monies wagered prior to the withdrawal of KING CONNOLLY to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 16 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 14 cents in the dollar.  Mr B Merrall, trainer of KING CONNOLLY was notified that prior to the gelding racing again it must perform satisfactorily in a trial.

When the gates opened CONTENDER (NZ) was slow to begin.

Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon inspected ORIENTAL CHEF which performed poorly and reported that the gelding had respiratory problems.  Stewards notified Ms A White, trainer of ORIENTAL CHEF that prior to the gelding racing again she must produce a satisfactory veterinary certificate.

Race 5CLASS 1 HCP - 1000 metres:

Near the 600 metres NOCH ON ICE was racing tightly between NAN’S LORD and IL DUCA had to be eased.  Whilst being eased NOCH ON ICE hung out accentuating the interference.

Race 6 – ROSE BOWL CLASS 3 HCP - 1300 metres:

On jumping away GOODONYA ZIGGY shifted in onto LAMBENT taking that filly in onto RESTLESS LEGS.

After being placed in the barriers LITTLE UMA got down and had to be removed from the barriers.  The club veterinary surgeon inspected LITTLE UMA and passed it fit to run.

Stewards questioned Mr S Clarke, trainer of SEQUALO FAIR which showed an improved performance to win today.  Mr Clarke stated that at her first start on the track she drew 11 and was unable to go forward and did not race well on that occasion.  The filly normally prefers to race up on the pace and having drawn barrier one today she was able to do that and raced much better than her previous start.  However Mr Clarke expressed some surprise at the fillies improved performance today.

Race 7 TOYOTA CUP CLASS 5 HCP - 1300 metres:

Acting on veterinary advice that SILENT ENCOUNTER was unfit to start stewards ordered the withdrawal of SILENT ENCOUNTER at 4.04pm.

Whilst attempting to load HERCULES MORSE (NZ) into the barriers the gelding broke free and galloped for a considerable distance.  Stewards ordered the withdrawal of HERCULES MORSE (NZ) at 5.24pm.  Subsequent to the event stewards ordered all monies wagered on HERCULES MORSE (NZ)  to be refunded and the following betting deductions.  All monies wagered prior to the withdrawal of HERCULES MORSE (NZ) to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 6 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 7 cents in the dollar.

At the entrance to the straight WYNDAM SPIRIT, which was a beaten horse at the time had to be eased off the heels of ZYLVESTER which shifted out.

Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon inspected WYNDAM SPIRIT which performed poorly and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality.  A swab sample was taken from the gelding.

Rounding the first turn HOWDY KEN had to be eased off the heels of JUAN PABLO which was racing tight on its outside.
