Cashkalani Romps Home in Palmerston Sprint

Former Adelaide speedster Cashkalani sent her prizemoney soaring today when she scored a comprehensive win in today's $71,250 Schweppes Palmerston Sprint (1200m) at Fannie Bay in Darwin.

The daughter of Ashkalani, a bargain buy for former trainer David Balfour at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, carried through from her recent excellent form in Adelaide with today's win in the northern city's feature sprint.

Cashkalani cost $17,000 as a yearling at the 2002 Adelaide Sale. She's now earned just $600 shy of $150,000.

Today Cashkalani upstaged a quality field beating proven Melbourne spring carnival winner Our Eden by a length, while Desert Dane was third.

Cashkalani is now trained locally by former Adelaide jockey Annmarie White and was ridden to victory by her husband Paul Denton.

The mare is an acceptor in Monday's Lightning Plate on Darwin Cup day. Nash Rawiller was been booked for the ride.

The win for Cashkalani in the Palmerston Sprint was the second rich northern state sprint won over the past few days by bargain buys from Australia's most popular thoroughbred sales company, Magic Millions.

On Thursday at Townsville the $15,000 yearling buy Kas Nediym won her fourth straight race when she rocketed home to victory in the $75,000 Cleveland Handicap.

Trainer by George Osborne, Kas Nediym is a graduate of the 2002 Magic Millions Premier Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast.
