When the gates opened LATENT stood flat footed and lost ground.

On jumping away MOON GOD was bumped by BYSANTO.
Stewards questioned W Orbell, rider of MOON GOD as to the reason for that gelding getting so far back in the middle stages. W Orbell stated that after being a little slow away and bumped at the start MOON GOD race ungenerously down the back straight and when tightened slightly near the 700 metres got its head up and did not want to race, losing ground as a consequence. Further that when he got clear in the straight it made good ground to the post.

On jumping away HIGHER SOCRE knuckled. Shortly after this CHEQUE ATTACK took HIGHER SCORE out into FUNTEGIC which in turn bumped TOP SQUIRE.

RACE FIVE SPEC COND HCP – 10OO M
Near the 200 metres SIR VIGNON was disappointed for a run on the inside of AMBER STYLE which rolled in. After shifting to the outside of AMBER STYLE, SIR VIGNON was again disappointed for a clear run when AMBER STYLE shifted out.
Near the 50 metres GAMERA and SCOTRO came together.

When the gates opened C’EST LE VIE was slow into stride.
Near the 900 metres DARK BRANDY was racing tight between ENTITLEMENT and SKIING and as a result bumped with ENTITLEMENT on several occasions.
Mr T Gillett, trainer of BABOUCHKE was fined $50 for nominating that gelding for this event when ineligible (AR64(1)).
Mr S Clarke, trainer of ENTITLEMENT was fined $50 for presenting that gelding without pacifiers which it is approved to race in. As Mr Clarke was unable to got a set of pacifiers, stewards permitted the gelding to race without pacifiers and amended it’s approved gear to reflect the change.

RACE SEVEN BUNTINE HCP – 19OO M
As T Huish was to be overweight stewards permitted W Orbell to replace him as the rider of ABOVE ALL.
After passing the winning post LUNGU was tightened for room between MARCIN ON and HERE’S ME MATE, both of which shifted slightly. As a result LUNGU became unbalanced.
Turning out of the straight MARCIN ON had a tendency to lay out and in so doing shifted out and bumped HERE’S ME MATE.
Near the 1200 metres BRAVE DECISION had to be eased off the heels of COPPER’S EDGE.
Near the 500 metres BRAVE DECISION was held up and lost some ground behind HERE’S ME MATE which was weakening.
Rounding the home turn SMILING EYES shifted out around the heels of COPPER’S EDGE and in so doing bumped HERE’S ME MATE.
Near the 200 metres SMILING EYES bumped MARCIN ON.
The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected COPPER’S EDGE subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the off foreleg leg.

When the gates opened APIARY was slow to begin.
Approaching the first turn APPLES was tightened for room by PLAY AGAIN SAM which shifted in and had to be eased.
Near the 1200 metres PLAY AGAIN SAM had to be eased.
1st NOT ABANDONED 2nd DELWAY 3rd VERY NATURAL

Stewards today concluded an inquiry adjourned from 10 July. Mr V Maloney was fined $50 for nominating MOON GOD for the Class 3 Handicap when ineligible (AR64(1)).
