RACE ONE MAIDEN S/W – 1200 M

Mr G Searle, trainer of GLENEAGLE was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR140A).

Mrs S Clarke, stable foreman for Mr G Clarke, trainer of SPECTOR was questioned as to whether she had a clearance for that gelding which last raced interstate. Mrs Clarke stated that she had not requested a clearance however assured the stewards that SPECTOR was all clear. Acting on that assurance stewards permitted SPECTOR to start and fined Mr G Clarke, trainer of SPECTOR $50 for failing to produce a clearance (AR59B(a)).

During the event SEGREGATE suffered an attack of bleeding.

RACE TWO WELTER – 19OO M

After being placed in the barriers ALWAYS ASPIRE reared on a number of occasions. While being restrained its blinkers came off which resulted in a short delay while they were replaced.

When the gates opened ALWAYS ASPIRE bounded and lost ground.

RACE THREE CLASS 1 HCP – 1OOO M

Prior to leaving the mounting yard CAMUS reared over backward. The club’s veterinary surgeon inspected CAMUS at the barriers prior to the start and declared CAMUS fit to start.

Rounding the first turn KINGS ALLEY had a tendency to hang out.

At the entrance to the straight KINGS ALLEY was held up for a run.

Near the 750 metres MONKEY BOY was tightened for room between STRATEGIC HIT and EDGING AROUND and had to be eased.

During the race the saddle on STRATEGIC HIT shifted which placed its rider S Leckey (a) at a disadvantage.

RACE FOUR CLASS 1 HCP – 13OO M

Acting on advice from trainer Ms A White that POLISKY had become lame subsequent to the 9.00 am scratching time stewards ordered the withdrawal of POLISKY at 11.40 am.

Near the 1200 metres A TASTE OF HONEY rolled in and bumped GHAAZI (NZ).

Shortly after this A TASTE OF HONEY was tightened for room between GHAAZI (NZ) and GROOVE which shifted in. The interference was accentuated by MANDATE shifting in on the outside of GROOVE.

During the race ENVIRONS suffered an attack of bleeding.

RACE FIVE CLASS 3 HCP – 16OO M

When the gates opened PREFIX (NZ) was slow into stride.

Racing to the first turn DUSTELLA and VIDAL bumped on several occasions.

As B Schmidt was unable to ride VIDAL at its declared weight (58.0kg) the stewards permitted B Huppatz to replace him.

When the gates opened CITIHONOURS was slow into stride.

RACE SEVEN PALMERSTON SPRINT – 12OO M

When the gates opened FRAADI KNIGHT was slow into stride.

L Schmidt, rider of BEAU MASTER was found guilty of a charge of careless riding ARR137 (a). The careless riding being that after passing the 1000 metres he permitted BEAU MASTER to shift in when not sufficiently clear of HIGH REVS taking that gelding in onto GALIANO (NZ) and it in turn in onto EROGENOUS. As a result EROGENOUS was tightened and had to be checked and GALIANO (NZ) had to be checked. L Schmidt was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 9th August, 2003.

B Huppatz, rider of PELT was found guilty of a charge of careless riding ARR137 (a). The careless riding being that near the 650 metres he permitted PELT to shift in when not sufficiently clear of EMPHASIS taking that gelding in onto BEAU MASTER and it in turn in onto HIGH REVS resulting in HIGH REVS having to be checked severely, EMPHASIS having to be checked and BEAU MASTER having to be eased. B Huppatz was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 16th August, 2003.

During the event EROGENOUS suffered an attack of bleeding.

1st TO BE FAIR 2nd SKIING 3rd BEAU MASTER

Trainer Ms L Williams was fined $100 for having a truck parked on the stable road on Thursday morning 31 July in contravention of the committee policy. Ms Williams had been previously reprimanded on several occasions for the same occurrence.
