Race 1CLASS 3 HCP - 1200 metres:

Mr A Trengrove, trainer of VALIANT LAD was fined $50 for failing to lodge a stable return showing the correct nominators of that gelding (NT56).

Stewards permitted P Shiers rider of VALIANT LAD to ride 1/2kg overweight.  P Shiers was fined $100 for accepting rides for which he was subsequently overweight (AR120(b)).

Approaching the 800 metres VALIANT LAD (P Shiers) threw its head in the air and shifted out whilst being eased, causing the gelding to lose some ground.

Race 2 SPEC COND (3) S/W - 1000 metres:

After the start CELTIC DANE was slow into stride.

Stewards reprimanded S Hillebrand (a), rider of KING OF IRELAND for weighing in ½ kg under his declared weight (AR143) and notified him that he must do his utmost to return to scale at the correct weight in future.

Shortly after the start AMBERLIGHT jumped out onto EL SUROSO.

Race 43YO CLASS 2 HCP - 1200 metres:

Stewards interviewed Mr S Clarke, trainer of UNDUE in relation to the scratching of that gelding prior to 8.30 today.  Mr Clarke stated that it UNDUE had received a small wound on Tuesday 24 May and was treated by veterinary surgeon Mr J Farebrother on that day.  The gelding had worked each day since and was treated again on Friday 27 May by Mr Farebrother.  Mr Farebrother had again examined the gelding this morning and had advised Mr Clarke that there was a risk of injuring the gelding further if it raced today.  Upon receiving that advise, Mr Clarke scratched the gelding immediately.  Mr Clarke was notified that his explanation would be accepted on this occasion however was reminded of his obligation under NT128 (b) regarding the notifying of stewards as soon as practicable after an injury comes to his notice.

At the start NEGEV reared in the air. 

On jumping away THY SPUR jumped out into WITCH WAY WEST, which in turn forced SEXCELLS out onto NEGEV, NOCH ON ICE also jumped out into BOSS BEAR.

Approaching the turn at the 650 metres BOSS BEAR rolled in causing SPADES to be eased and lose ground.

At about the 500 metres THY SPUR lost its near side plate.

Stewards fined trainer Ms A White $50 for allowing stablehand C Nash to not display his current registration card in accordance with NT107.

Race 5CLASS 1 HCP - 1100 metres:

After the start KING CONNOLLY jumped out and bumped ALIGHIERI and both horses lost ground.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected ALIGHIERI subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the near hind leg.
