RACE TWO 3YO CLASS 2 HCP – 1OOO M

When the gates opened NOCH ON ICE stood flat footed and lost ground.

Rounding the first turn BLIX had a tendency to lay out onto MISS TALITHA and as a result lost ground.

Near the 650 metres LOTTA RAIN had a tendency to lay out across the heels of EARTH GOLD.

S Ridler, rider of LOTTA RAIN was found guilty of a charge of careless riding AR137 (a).  The careless riding being that near the 800 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of MISS TALITHA thereby taking that filly in onto BLIX.  As a result MISS TALITHA had to be checked and BLIX was hampered.  S Ridler was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Thursday 18th November, 2004.

Mrs E Brown, representing Mr S Brown, trainer of BARRY which performed poorly notified the stewards that BARRY had been feeling the effects of the recent hot weather and she believed this was the reason for its poor performance, further that the horse would be going south for a spell.  The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected BARRY subsequent to the event and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality.  A routine swab sample was taken.

RACE EIGHT SPEC COND HCP – 12OO M

Mr S Clarke, trainer of ENTITLEMENT which is approved to race in blinkers and pacifiers presented the gelding in blinkers only.  Mr Clarke stated that he did not have a set of blinker/pacifiers and was unable to borrow a set.  Stewards permitted ENTITLEMENT to race without the pacifiers and notified Mr Clarke that the gelding would not be permitted to race with pacifiers at its next start and fined Mr Clarke $50 (AR140(a)).

On jumping away AMBER STYLE shifted out and GALVESTON STORM shifted in resulting in ACELA and ENTITLEMENT being tightened for room.

Near the 1000 metres ACELA and ENTITLEMENT were tightened for room by GALVESTON STORM (S Hillebrand (a)) which shifted in.  As a result ACELA had to be checked and ENTITLEMENT had to be eased and lost ground.  S Hillebrand (a) was severely reprimanded for shifting in when not sufficiently clear.  Stewards took into account S Hillebrand (a) inexperience in that he has only had a small number of rides however notified him that in future he must ensure he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground or he may face a charge of careless riding.
