Apprentice R CADDIES, rider of GEODUDE was cautioned by Stewards and reminded of his obligation when shifting ground. The trainer of GEODUDE, Mr V OLDFIELD was questioned by Stewards in regard to the improved performance of the horse. Mr OLDFIELD stated that in GEODUDE’S last race in Alice Springs he had instructed the rider to endeavour to ride the horse back as he was of the opinion the horse was over-racing when on the pace and not finishing its races, but the horse had been disappointing when held up. Mr OLDFIELD informed Stewards prior to today’s race that he would instruct GEODUDE rider to allow the horse to race forward. Mr OLDFIELD was informed by Stewards that they would expect the horse to be ridden in similar manner as today in its future races.
