When the gates opened NOT ABANDONED and EARRING were slow into stride.

In the latter part of the straight ABRA had a tendency to lay in.

RACE TWO CLASS 6 HCP – 16OO M

As N Paine was engaged to ride both KAHOONA and CITIHONOURS stewards permitted D Bates to replace him as the rider of CITIHONOURS. The explanation of N Paine for accepting 2 rides was accepted and he was notified that he should ensure that he does not accept more than one ride in future.

In the straight FRAMEWORTHY was held up for a clear run until near the 150 metres.

In the straight CITIHONOURS had to shift out to obtain a clear run.

Rounding the first turn KAHOONA raced ungenerously. N Paine, rider of KAHOONA, which performed poorly, could offer no explanation for that gelding’s poor performance. Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon inspected KAHOONA and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality.

RACE THREE CLASS 4 HCP – 11OO M

After being placed in the barriers SECRET MISSILE reared and dislodged it’s rider M Cullen. Acting on advice from the club’s veterinary surgeon SECRET MISSILE was withdrawn at 1.20 pm.

After being placed in the barriers POP’S TAURUS reared and became cast. Acting on advice from the club veterinary surgeon POP’S TAURUS was withdrawn at 1.22 pm.

When the gates opened AMBER STYLE was slow to jump away.

At the top of the straight and approaching the winning post HERMIT and PALACE LAD came together.

Subsequent to the event stewards ordered all monies wagered on SECRET MISSILE and POP’S TAURUS to be refunded and the following betting deductions. All monies wagered prior to the withdrawal of SECRET MISSILE (1.20pm) to be paid as follows- for the win, face value of the ticket less 18 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 18 cents in the dollar. After the withdrawal of SECRET MISSILE (1.20pm) and prior to the withdrawal of POP’S TAURUS (1.22pm) to be paid as follows- for the win, face value of the ticket less 6 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 7 cents in the dollar.

Mr K Lamprecht, trainer of HERMIT was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR140(a))

In the early stages LORD ERSKINE got it’s head up and overraced.

At the entrance to the straight MURPHY’S PRIZE had to be eased off the heels of SONGMAKER when taken out by EDGING AROUND.

Mr K Lamprecht, trainer of SOCCER was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR140(a))

As T Norton was to be overweight Stewards permitted the following rider changes:-

T Norton was fined $300 for accepting rides for which he was unable to fill AR120 (b).

J Hallam (a), rider of GALVESTON STORM was found guilty of a charge of careless riding ARR137 (a). The careless riding being that near the 650 metres he permitted GALVESTON STORM to shift in when not sufficiently clear of MANDATE taking that gelding in onto TRUMPS. As a result MANDATE had to be checked and TRUMPS had to be checked and clipped heels. J Hallam (a) was found guilty of a second charge of careless riding in that approaching the 100 metres he permitted GALVESTON STORM to shift in when not sufficiently clear of ALTO EGO resulting in that gelding having to be checked. J Hallam (a) was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire at midnight on Saturday 23rd August, 2003 (2 meetings.

RACE FIVE CLASS 3 HCP – 13OO M

When the gates opened EARTH LEGEND and CALL ME BUCK were slow into stride.

Near the 250 metres MOSSE shifted in and took COMPASS BOY in onto FATHER’S FOLLY.

Approaching the winning post EL SUROSO and FLASH LIGHTNING came together.

RACE SIX CLASS 1 HCP – 19OO M

Shortly after the start KOSSI PRINCE had to be checked when tightened for room between CALMER KARMA which shifted in and JUST YOU ASK which was taken out by GO BRAGH. Also HUNTER REGION and HERE’S ME MATE came together.

Approaching the first turn REGENT (NZ) had to be eased off the heels of HERE’S ME MATE which had a tendency to lay in. JUST YOU ASK, which was racing on the inside of REGENT (NZ) was overracing and throwing its head up when being restrained.

As the field commenced the first turn JUST YOU ASK which was racing up onto the heels of GO BRAGH had to be checked and in so doing hung out severely. This resulted in JUST YOU ASK shifting out abruptly across the heels of REGENT (NZ) and taking BELIEVE IN VICTORY out and severely hampered that gelding. Also rounding the first turn REGENT (NZ) had to be eased off the heels of HERE’S ME MATE and GO BRAGH hung out.

RACE SEVEN LIGHTNING PLATE – 10OO M

When the gates opened ASPEN STAR stood flat footed.

Near the 300 metres TERM, which had a tendency to lay in shifted in abruptly and hampered BEAU MASTER slightly.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected TERM subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding had lacerations to the near fore leg.

During the event DEVELOP suffered an attack of bleeding

RACE EIGHT SPEC COND HCP – 13OO M

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected CYPRESS LAKES subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the off fore leg.

RACE NINE DARWIN CUP – 20OO M

On jumping away SOLARIO shifted in onto TJILPI and TO BE FAIR shifted in onto DUCHOVNY.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected BRAVE DECISION subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding had a minor injury to the off side eye.
