Rogerson Wins Cup and Takes Darwin Double

Globe trotting trainer Graeme Rogerson completed the Darwin Cup Carnival feature double at Fannie Bay today when the talented gelding Wild Heart scored a comprehensive win in the listed Carlton Draught Darwin Cup (2000m).

With visiting Sydney based jockey Chris Munce in the saddle the gelding proved too good for his rivals and in doing so completed a memorable weekend for the Randwick based trainer.

Rogerson was successful with today's unplaced Cup runner To Be Fair in Saturday's rich Palmerston Sprint.

The bold move by Rogerson to station 29 of his stable in the top end during the past month proved a winning move over the past three days of his stay.

While To Be Fair and Wild Heart swept away with the feature double, yesterday Rogerson offered 28 of the team at an auction at Fannie Bay.

The sale declared a success by racing manager Dean Watt saw all but three of the gallopers sell to outside interests. Rogerson purchased three gallopers - Wild Heart, To Be Fair and today's runner-up (narrowly beaten) Allspent - to take out overall ownership of the gallopers he previously owned in partnership.

Rogerson finished Darwin Cup day with a winning double and two second placings. His other win came courtesy of Lion Pride in the second last event on the nine race program.
