RACE ONE        CLASS 6 HCP – 13OO M

On jumping away SONG MEKONG and PRINCE RAJA came together.

Near the 200 metres AMBERLIGHT had to ease slightly to avoid the heels of FOR RORY which rolled out.

Stewards questioned D Bates, rider of KISSING DOWN which performed poorly.  D Bates stated that when the leader began to accelerate the gelding began to weaken.  Further that overall KISSING DOWN was disappointing as it does not perform consistently.  The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected KISSING DOWN subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the near fore leg.  Ms R Thompson, trainer of KISSING DOWN was notified that a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required before the gelding raced again (AR8(t)).

RACE TWO MAIDEN S/W – 15OO M

Stewards questioned B Davis (a), rider of OURALASSI which performed below expectations.  B Davis (a) stated that after beginning well and racing keenly he eased to get closer to the fence rounding the first turn and the filly dropped the bit and did not travel well from that point on.  He also stated that the mare appeared to pull up alright.  The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected OURALASSI subsequent to the event and reported that the gelding was lame in the off hind leg.  Ms L Williams, trainer of OURALASSI was notified that a veterinary certificate of soundness would be required before the gelding raced again (AR8(t)).

RACE THREE        CLASS 4 HCP – 1OOO M

Acting on veterinary advice that SHE’S A CARD was lame in the near fore leg stewards ordered the withdrawal of SHE’S A CARD at 5.13pm.

Subsequent to the event stewards ordered all monies wagered on SHE’S A CARD to be refunded and the following betting deductions.  All monies wagered prior to the withdrawal of SHE’S A CARD to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 21 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 22 cents in the dollar.

When the gates opened LUSKIN DREAMS jumped outwards and lost ground.

Near the 200 metres TOP SQUIRE and CHEQUE ATTACK came together.

In the straight MURPHY’S LAW had a tendency to lay in under pressure and as a result VOLCANIC PEARL, which was weakening, had to be eased momentarily.

As T Perry was unavailable J Hallam was permitted to replace him as the rider of KING KUDOS.

Shortly after the start PRIME COLOUR, which was slow into stride, was tightened for room by SAVNECT which shifted in.

In the early stages of the race OUR CAMBIDA raced erratically and threw its head up on a number of occasions.  As a result it shifted in onto SAVNECT near the 1000 metres.

Near the 650 metres SAVNECT layed out and bumped OUR CAMBIDA.

D Leech, trainer of BEL DE FERRO was fined $20 for using club colours.  Mr Leech was also notified that in future he should complete his stable returns to include the correct owners.
