Stewards questioned trainer B Merrall regarding the supervision of his satellite stable in Alice Springs.  Mr Merrall indicated that he had approximately six horses at the complex, all of which were currently spelling.  His stable foreman Ms R North had travelled to Darwin this week and it would be at least a week until she was back in Alice Springs.  Mr Merrall had a registered stablehand Mr G Miatke feeding the horses on his behalf and although not in regular contact, Mr Miatke would contact him if there were any problems.  Stewards notified Mr Merrall that under the conditions of his license he was required to have a stable foreman in charge of his stables in his absence and if that was not the case then horses from that stable would not be eligible to be entered for seven days after his stable foreman resumed supervising the stable in person.
