As SEXCELLS was unable to be placed in the barriers stewards ordered the withdrawal of that filly at 12.46pm.
Subsequent to the event stewards ordered all monies wagered on SEXCELLS to be refunded and the following betting deductions. All monies wagered prior to the withdrawal of SEXCELLS to be paid as follows:- for the win, face value of the ticket less 3 cents in the dollar. For the place, face value of the ticket less 4 cents in the dollar.
Mr A Trengrove, trainer of SEXCELLS was notified that a warning would be issued against the filly and that it must trial from the barriers to the satisfaction of stewards before racing again.
When the gates opened SKYY GREY reared and almost fell on jumping away and in so doing P Shiers, the gelding’s rider lost his stirrup iron.
Near the 700 metres MY PERFECT GIFT was taken out slightly by BLIX and then continued out further resulting in P Denton, it’s rider having to ease off the heels of GAGS.
Rounding the turn MY PERFECT GIFT had a tendency to hang out.

RACE TWO CLASS 3 HCP –5OOO M
T Gillett trainer of LEICA CUMNOCK was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with wrong gear (AR140(a)).
Racing to the first turn EVERYTIME and GRASS DANCER came together when tightened for room by LEICA CUMNOCK which shifted in. Stewards questioned D Coffey, rider of EVERYTIME which performed below expectations. D Coffey stated that when he asked the gelding for an effort near the 600 metres it failed to respond and did not run on at all in the concluding stages of the race. He also stated that the gelding appeared to pull up alright. Stewards questioned Mr V Maloney, trainer of EVERYTIME who stated that he could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other that it did pull up a bit big after the race.

RACE THREE CLASS 1 HCP – 12OO M
When the gates opened SATIETY knuckled badly. Shortly after the start HUNTER REGION shifted out away from TOP VALUE and in so doing took MODERN GLORY out hampering that gelding and taking it out across the running of SATIETY.
Near the 100 metres TOP VALUE pig rooted when struck with the whip.
Stewards questioned Mr A Trengove, trainer of SATIETY which last raced interstate as to whether he had a clearance for that gelding. Mr Trengrove stated that he had not requested a clearance however assured the stewards that SATIETY was all clear. Mr Trengrove was fined $50 for failing to produce a clearance (AR59B(b)). Acting on his assurance SATIETY was permitted to start.

Subsequent to the event the clubs veterinary surgeon reported that CITIHONOURS had pulled up lame.
All runners were pre-race swabbed.

RACE FIVE 3YO CLASS 5 HCP – 12OO M
As D Coffey was to be overweight stewards permitted D Wilson to replace him as the rider of ROSIE’S SUNSET. The explanation of D Coffey for him being overweight was accepted.
When the gates opened BLUES CONNECTION refused to jump away. Stewards issued a warning against the gelding and notified the trainer Mr K Lamprecht that prior to the gelding racing again it must trial to the satisfaction of stewards.
Near the 1100 metres NASH STREET (P Crich) shifted in taking ABRA in across the running of BRODGAR resulting in BRODGAR having to be eased. P Crich was reprimanded and notified that in future he must ensure he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground.

RACE SEVEN OPEN HCP – 11OO M
Approaching the 900 metres RING CYCLE was tightened for room between EARTH LEGEND and ORIENTAL TREASURE which was taken in by DARK BRANDY (D Bates). As a result RING CYCLE had to be eased and lost ground. D Bates was severely reprimanded and notified that in similar circumstances in future he must ensure he is 2 lengths clear prior to shifting ground.

RACE EIGHT CLASS 5 HCP –12OO M
S Leckey (a), rider of MR TAMBOURINEMAN was required to reweigh as he had initially weighed without a surcingle. Stewards were satisfied he had done so accidentally and reprimanded him for doing so.
When the gates opened, MR TAMBOURINEMAN knuckled. On jumping away GALIANO (NZ) and I DO THEE WED both shifted which resulted in TJILPI being tightened between those runners. Several strides after this GILDED STAR shifted in resulting in GALIANO (NZ) having to be eased off it’s heels.
Rounding the home turn OLD SWAMPY was tightened for room between GUNNEL and BRAVE DECISION which rolled out.
J Hallam (a) was fined $100 for giving a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post (AR137(c)).
Prior to correct weight being declared, S Leckey (a), rider MR TAMBOURINEMAN requested to view the official image of the finish.
Stewards questioned T Norton, rider of OLD SWAMPY which performed below expectations. T Norton stated that he was tightened early in the race and from then on the horse did not feel comfortable on the track. Further that after dismounting he thought the horse looked sore. Mr N Byrne trainer of OLD SWAMPY stated that he could offer no explanation and that he believed that the gelding appeared to pull up alright. The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected OLD SWAMPY subsequent to the event and reported that he could find no apparent abnormality.

Subsequent to the meeting Mr N Byrne, trainer of OLD SWAMPY reported to the stewards that when he was taking the gelding back to the stables it began to cough badly and did so for some time. Mr Byrne has had a veterinary surgeon attend the horse and take blood for testing to ascertain whether it is suffering from a virus.
Subsequent to the meeting Mr S Paynter, trainer of BRAVE DECISION notified stewards that the gelding had suffered a laceration to the near fore pastern during the race.
K Lamprecht, trainer of FIDDLES was fined $250 under AR 140A for presenting that horse to race with blinkers on 12 June 2004 at Fannie Bay. Mr Lamprecht had assured the stewards on the day that FIDDLES had run in blinkers at its previous start, acting on that assurance stewards permitted FIDDLES to race in blinkers. Subsequently stewards obtained the video of its previous run at Tennant Creek which showed that FIDDLES did not run in blinkers that day.
Apprentice jockey M Hart was fined $50 for riding trackwork prior to daylight on Thursday morning 24 June 2004 without an approved light on his helmet.
Trainers Mr S Clarke and Mr D Leech was fined $50 each for failing to lodge stable returns for their horses in accordance with NT56.
