Stewards reprimanded M Aba (a) for failing to ride at his declared MRW of 53.5 kg.  M Abe (a) stated that he was ½ kg over his MRW as he had drunk too much water due to the heat.  M Abe (a) was further notified that he must either increase his MRW or ensure he is able to ride at that weight or he may be penalised in future.

When the gates opened KELTRICK jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Mr S Clarke, trainer of EYE EYE SIR was fined $50 for presenting that gelding with incorrect gear (AR140(a)).

RACE TWO MAIDEN S/W – 12OO M

When the gates opened SQUEAKY CLEAN was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start KING OF THE NORTH was tightened for room by SHOT OF THE DAY which shifted out.

The clubs veterinary surgeon inspected BLETCHINGLY’S BEST subsequent to the event and reported that the mare had lacerations to the offside nostril.

RACE THREE        CLASS 2 HCP – 12OO M

On jumping away GREYISH, which was slow to begin was bumped by BEL DE FERRO which shifted in.

Mr D Leech, trainer of BEL DE FERRO was fined $50 for failing to lodge a stable return showing the correct nominators of that gelding (NT56).

RACE FOUR        CLASS 4 HCP – 1OOO M

When the gates opened OUR CAMBIDA was slow into stride.

Rounding the first turn LOADED VICE (NZ) and CHEQUE ATTACK, which were racing tightly rolled in and tightened ALTO EGO which resulted in ALTO EGO being checked.  Stewards took into account that CHEQUE ATTACK had shifted in prior to the interference however as they commenced the turn CHEQUE ATTACK may have received pressure from LOADED VICE (NZ) resulting in it shifting in across the running of ALTO EGO.

After considering all the circumstances, stewards reprimanded B Davis (a), rider of CHEQUE ATTACK and notified him that in future he must ensure he is two lengths clear prior to shifting ground.

In the latter part of the home turn MANDATE was held up for a clear run on the inside of CHEQUE ATTACK which was racing tight on the inside of LOADED VICE (NZ).  In the straight LOADED VICE (NZ) had a tendency to lay in and in doing so shifted in across the running of CHEQUE ATTACK and then bumped MANDATE.

Acting on veterinary advice that GALVESTON STORM was lame stewards ordered the withdrawal of GALVESTON STORM at 4.40pm.

RACE SIX OPEN HCP – 13OO M

When the gates opened GUNNEL took some strides to muster speed.

Near the 1100 metres ACELA and GILDED STAR bumped.

Near the 100 metres GUNNEL, which was attempting a tight run between GILDED STAR and LUST NO MORE, rolled in onto GILDED STAR taking that gelding inwards.
