Race 2 – CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

After being loaded into the gates MOOKTA GOLD reared and went over backwards and landed on its back. At the same time ADMIRAL HARRY and SKIPPIN AND JUMPIN were kicking the back gates dislodging one of the gates. On being released from the gates MOOKTA GOLD broke away and raced off the course. ADMIRAL HARRY also broke away but was recaptured at the 1200 metre mark. As MOOKTA GOLD had galloped a considerable distance Stewards ordered the withdrawal of that mare at 3.09pm. Acting on vet’s advice the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SKIPPIN AND JUMPIN at 3.10pm. ADMIRAL HARRY was inspected by Club veterinary surgeon and was declared fit to run. When the gates opened GREIMOTA was slow to begin. REGAL ROSE jumped out and TOP VALUE jumped in and came together. SARASON’S GIRL threw its head in the air and lost ground. RUBYRULE was slow to begin. As a result of the late scratchings the following deductions were announced: No.4 MOOKTA GOLD 20c for the win 16c for the place. No.5 SKIPPIN AND JUMPIN 19c for the win 16c for the place. After the event the Club veterinary surgeon reported that ADMIRAL HARRY had pulled up quite distressed and required treatment.

Race 5 – CLASS 5 HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

When the gates opened FIRE JOE jumped awkwardly. Stewards questioned G LEFOE, rider of CAPTAIN SNAADEE regarding that gelding’s run. G LEFOE said that the gelding got back down the back straight as it didn’t appreciate the sand being thrown back. On the home turn he moved out to find firmer ground and was inconvenienced by MONOLOGIST who was weakening and shifting ground. Stewards noted this explanation. After the event the Club veterinary surgeon reported that KINGS ALLEY and CAPTAIN SNAADEE both lost near fore plates.
