Race 1 – TROBIS 2YO PLATE - 1000 metres:

Start delayed when the breast plate on GO OR SEE had to be replaced. GO OR SEE proved difficult to load. Approaching the 600 metre mark RAZOR ONE threw its head in the air resenting the same coming back. RAZOR ONE shifted some ground in the final stages of the race.

Race 2 – SPECIAL CONDITIONS HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

DARROWBY LIVEWIRE had to be replated in the saddling paddock prior to the race. Apprentice M MORITA was reprimanded by Stewards for weighing out without mountings on his saddle to ride ACELA. Apprentice M MORITA was requested to re-weigh. MURPHY’S LAW returned to the enclosure showing signs of distress.

Race 3 – CLASS B HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

ON THE DESK dwelt as start effected. NORTH SKYE jumped inwards onto ADMIRAL HARRY. Jockey P DENTON reported to Stewards that his mount ADMIRAL HARRY was under pressure and not responding to his riding from the 800 metre mark. He also stated that ADMIRAL HARRY was not suited to the 1400 metre mark of the race. Subsequent to the race a veterinary examination revealed that ADMIRAL HARRY had a slow heart and respiratory recovery rate.

Race 4 – class 4 handicap - 1100 metres:

1st CONISTON WAY                        2nd ORSO                                           3rd SARATOGA BOY

I SCREAM stepped on his offside front plate dislodging it as start effected. CRITERIUM (NZ) raced very wide throughout the race. On return to the enclosure it was observed that SARATOGA BOY had cast his off fore plate during the run.

Race 5 – OPEN HANDICAP - 1000 metres:

READY AND GO jumped outwards and SCOTRO jumped inwards resulting in KARESHIM being tightened as start effected. Shortly after the start LE SAINT appeared to prop. At about the 600 metre mark READY AND GO had to be eased when SCOTRO shifted in. At the 230 metre mark READY AND GO faltered when he broke his nearside fetlock. KARESHIM and DOOLAM PLAYER were both badly hampered in the incident. Subsequent to the race jockey M CLYDE stated to Stewards that READY AND GO was travelling well just prior to the incident. Subsequent to the race READY AND GO was humanely euthanised by the Club veterinarian.

Race 6 – class 2 handicap - 1200 metres:

AROUSER slow to begin. SPLIT DECISION appeared to race ungenerously with its head in the air from about the 800 metre mark until the home turn.

Trainer K LAMPRECHT fined the sum of $50 under ARR64(1) for nominating RANKS in the Special Conditions Handicap, a race that the horse was ineligible to run.

An inquiry will be held on 20 March into the reason READY AND GO being checked at the 600 metre mark in the Open Handicap, a race on today’s program.
