FAR DOON jumped in at the start and made contact with CROWN DELPHIN, which was then inconvenienced by PLAY PRINCE, which shifted out.

RACE 2: V.S.A.S.A. MAIDEN H'CAP - 800m

COURT DANCING jumped in at the start causing MISS HUR to blunder and loose ground.
COURT DANCING shifted in under pressure at the 450m causing MISS HUR to be eased.

RACE 3: HOPES' BODY REPAIRS MAIDEN H'CAP - 1500m

KATERI was slow to begin.
GAMBOL ROSE was slow to begin and was forced to race wide in the early stages.
MARY JO was forced to ease off the heels of KATERI at the 450m.

RACE 4: R.S.L. MEMORIAL CLUB LONG TAN CUP H'CAP - 1100m

As the ambulance officer stood down J Baker, D Hutchins replaced him on his Mount SHALARKO.
CELESTIAL SPRINTER was slow to begin.
CONNELLY was forced to ease off the heels of DR STEEL at the 450m.

RACE 5: BIG W SOCIAL CLUB CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1100m

RANGERS was forced to race wide during the early stages of the event.
RANGERS shifted in at the 450m making contact with DAANDINE JEWEL.
BLETCHMORE was hampered over the concluding stages by GOLD ?N' BLUE, which shifted in.

SLASHING LOOKS jumped out at the start making contact with simonwatch.

RACE 2: MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000m

BERET was declared a non-runner when its gate failed to open with the others denying that horse a fair start. All monies on that horse were ordered refunded and deductions of 10c win and 13c place were declared.

RACE 3: CLASS 2 H'CAP - 1200m

No incidents.

RACE 4: Open Handicap - 1200m

No incidents.

RACE 5: Class 4 H'CAP - 1400m

MILL VALLEY stood flat footed as the gates opened and lost ground.

SHED THE LIGHT jumped awkwardly.

MANSMAHMOUD hung out making the first turn, forcing TOLGA DAN wider on the track. LOTS OF BLEVIC, which was following, struck the heels of TOLGA DAN and blundered.


RACE 2: KILCOY FARM STAYS H'CAP - 1500M.

HONKY TONK WOMAN was a late scratching at 10.45 a.m. on veterinary advice.

As Apprentice M. Waddington was to be overweight, R. Hurley was substituted as the rider of ANOTHER GENERAL. M. Waddington was fined the sum of $100.

Stewards accepted the explanation of apprentice K. Cunningham being unable to claim her full allowance.

As the pace slackened near the 900m., IMAGO had to be steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of ANOTHER GENERAL, which obtained the lead. As a result, SUCH A NIGHT, which was following, shifted in, cramping the room of both DEBBIE'S PRIDE and DICEY LADY.

A. Parramore, rider of SUCH A NIGHT, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 300m. when insufficiently clear of PULL MY STRING, resulting in that mare having to be checked. A. Parramore was suspended for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 3 August, and to expire at midnight, 15 August 2002.


RACE 3: KILCOY'S BED AND BREAKFAST H'CAP - 800M.

Rounding the home turn, SUNDAY BELLS shifted out and struck the hind quarters of JHANSI KI RANI, which became unbalanced.

BY DEFAULT shifted out at the start, tightening SHAKE DOWN on to ROSE BONBON.

SCARY MONSTER, ELABORATE and HILDANE were slow to begin.

BY DEFAULT hung out rounding the home turn, taking SHAKE DOWN wider on the track.


RACE 4: KILCOY WINERIES H'CAP - 800M.

MAGIC ENCOUNTER and LOTUS BIRD were slow to begin.


RACE 5: KIRKLEIGH RECREATION AREA H'CAP - 1200M.

Trainer N. Petersen was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for SPINOUT by the prescribed time.

KINDILAN was a late scratching at 9.35 a.m. on veterinary advice.

SAHARA LOCH blundered badly on jumping away.

Approaching the 1000m., SPINOUT shifted in momentarily crowding SAHARA LOCH.


RACE 6: ATHOL JENKINSON MEMORIAL H'CAP - 1200M.

FULL TODDY jumped inwards at the start, and made contact with FIRES OF IRELAND.

Passing the 900m., FIRES OF IRELAND commenced to race fiercely and had to be steadied off the heels of HAIL ROCKET.

FIRES OF IRELAND was held up for clear running from the 400m. until near the 50m..


RACE 7: FRED GRAY MEMORIAL H'CAP - 1060M.

NEMOV shifted in at the start, making contact with CLIFTON BAY.

A veterinary examination of JED ENOCH, which was eased down by its rider from the 600m., revealed the gelding to have broken down in the near fore tendon.


RACE 8: JIMNA PEACH TREES CAMPING H'CAP - 1060M.

SKIP THE COFFEE and SAHARA VICE were slow to begin.

SAHARA VICE hung out rounding the 600m. turn.

Rounding the home turn, SPIRIT OF JACK hung out, which enabled TILLSZOFF to obtain a run to that horse's inside. As a result, SPIRIT OF JACK made heavy contact with NOBLE CRUISE and shifted back in, causing TILLSZOFF to be checked.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.

M Gray was unable to fulfil his riding engagements at today's meeting as he had accepted rides in Toowoomba. Stewards accepted the explanation for this occurrence and no action was taken. The following rider replacements were approved:

RACE 1: SOUTHERN CROSS TEN H'CAP (CLASS 1) - 900M.

Inside the 750m KOSA laid out and made heavy contact with BOOKING.

Approaching the 700m SQUIRTIE BOY was tightened for room between SIR ENDA which shifted out when racing ungenerously off the heels of STATUM and VE EYE PE which shifted in abruptly. Following this incident SQUIRTIE BOY commenced to race fiercely when being restrained off the heels of SIR ENDA.

Inside the 300m FAIRY QUEEN shifted out to obtain clear running which resulted in M Bennett (STATUM) having to restrain his mount for some distance to avoid that runner's heels. D Gay the rider of FAIRY QUEEN was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

RACE 2: CRAZY RON'S MOBILE PHONES H'CAP (THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN) - 900M.

Due to an office error, B ALBUINO was late in being advertised as the rider of ABSROSI.

Trainer T Hall, through his representative, was advised that a warning would be placed on the barrier manners of INTELLIGENTLY after that filly proved difficult to load.

BRONCO ALF was slow to begin.

RODANZA was tightened for room at the start between MORINGA'S MERCURY and LOADED VICE which jumped in.

Shortly after entering the straight LOADED VICE and LITTLE EXPRESS became unbalanced after making contact.

A post race veterinary examination of LOADED VICE revealed the colt had sustained scalping wounds to the near hind pastern.

RACE 3: TEN'S FIRST @ 5 NEWS H'CAP (FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN) - 1400M.

After App. S McLean was dislodged from HAPPY FEET in the enclosure and injured his leg, the mare was withdrawn at 1:41 pm. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on HAPPY FEET be refunded with deductions of 6 cents in the dollar for the win and 7 cents in the dollar for the place on the face value of win and place tickets applicable.

BANKERS MAGIC jumped out at the start and crowded TONGUE LASHING out on to ARUNA STRYKER.

Inside the 450m MAGICAL EYES had to be steadied off the heels of DINNA ANCHOR which shifted out to improve.

From the 300m until inside the final 100m CHAUDIE GIRL was held up for clear running.

The club Doctor examined App. S McLean and stood him down from his engagements in Races 4 and 5. Stewards permitted the following rider replacements:

App. S McLean was again examined prior to race 7 and passed fit to fulfil his remaining riding engagements.

A post race veterinary examination of DEL MONTE revealed the mare to have ruptured both tendons during the event.

RACE 4: BRUCE LYNTON BMW MINI GARAGE H'CAP - 1400M.

SATURN PRINCE was extremely fractious in the enclosure and as a result of its erratic behaviour dislodged A Abrahams in the preliminary and was declared a late withdrawal at 2:17 pm. Trainer K Devine was advised that the gelding must barrier trial successfully to the satisfaction of stewards prior to its next race start. On the announcement of correct weight, stewards ordered that all monies invested on SATURN PRINCE be refunded with deductions of 3 cents in the dollar for the win and 4 cents in the dollar for the place on the face value of win and place tickets applicable.

DINNA SADDLE jumped out at the start and bumped REPOSSESSION.

ACCRUED VALUE jumped away awkwardly.

STAR STRIKE jumped in the air at the start.

Approaching the first turn DIPPER DRIVE when being restrained off the heels of TOY STORY shifted in and crowded ACCRUED VALUE on to REPOSSESSION.

STAR STRIKE was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

Rounding the home turn DINNA SADDLE shifted out and made contact with MIGHTY WALTZ.

DIPPER DRIVE suffered a bleeding attack during the event. The horse will incur a mandatory three months ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from DIPPER DRIVE.

RACE 5: TEN'S LAW & ORDER H'CAP - 1800M.

SEMIPRECIOUS and SNEAKY BREEZE were slow to begin.

LUSKIN DREAMS jumped in at the start and hampered CHEERFULLY.

CHEERFULLY raced fiercely and refused to settle in the middle stages.

SEMIPRECIOUS was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 6: RETRO ADVERTISING & DESIGN H'CAP - 1800M.

NORSE RAIDER and POWER BY both jumped away awkwardly.

Approaching the first turn IMPOSITION became unbalanced after racing up on to the heels of HATTA'S DANCER.

Leaving the 1400m POWER BY had to be steadied off the heels of BETHEL which shifted in.

For some distance inside the 150m JARDINE'S LOOKOUT was held up for clear running.

RACE 7: CARL WAUGH MEMORIAL CUP (CLASS 2H'CAP) - 1200M.

BIONIC NED, PIMPALA WARRIOR and BE THERE were tightened at the start between BOTTLE NOSE and WOLF WALKING both of which shifted ground.

GRACE'S ROSES was obliged to race wide in the early stages.

RACE 8: TEN'S SPORTS TONIGHT H'CAP (CLASS 5) - 1200M.

Approaching the first turn KYPERRA threw its head in the air when being restrained and as a result lost ground.

From ITC meeting, 25.7.02: Jockey K. Pope, rider of QUISTADOR was cautioned regarding the manner in which he used his whip in the early part of the straight when he made contact with the rider to his inside.

RACE 1: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE - CLAYFIELD H'CAP - 2150M.

Passing the winning post on the first occasion, ROSE OF CONISTON had to be steadied off the heels of ELUSIVE DIAMOND, which shifted in.

A short distance later, NO MATTER WHAT shifted in of its own accord and made contact with the running rail, and a short distance later had to be steadied off the heels of GANGREL.

RACE 2: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE - IPSWICH H'CAP - 1350M.

MAZZONE jumped away awkwardly.

RACE 3: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE - BRISBANE EAST H'CAP - 1200M.

As A. Pattillo was indisposed, W.J. Cook was substituted as the rider of CANDY'S REPORT.

CANDY'S REPORT jumped awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the home turn, MANICURED was momentarily held up for clear running.

Inside the 200m., LA SEGRETA was obliged to alter course from behind the tiring COUGAREIGN.

Nearing the finish line, CARTILLE was disappointed for a run between TELAVON and COOROOMAN STAR, and a short distance later when being steadied off the heels of COOROOMAN STAR, shifted in, tightening MISS JONES.

BI BI JARNO was forced to race wide for the majority of the event.

RACE 4: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE - LENDING INNOVATORS H'CAP - 1200M.

BRITT'S BULLET jumped away awkwardly, and shortly after CALL OF THE KNIGHT shifted out, taking BRITT'S BULLET out on to IMPOST.

Nearing the 1000m., CALL OF THE KNIGHT improved up on to the heels of OUR ACADEMY STAR and had to be restrained off that runner's heels for some distance.

Passing the 600m., CALL OF THE KNIGHT once again had to be restrained off the heels of OUR ACADEMY STAR. MODERN STYLE, which was following, also had to be steadied.

SCENIC WELLS was obliged to race wide between the 800m. and 400m., and was forced wider on the home turn by SLICK TIME.

Approaching the home turn SUPREME WILL had a tendency to hang out.

RACE 5: RICK THORNBERRY - THE BOXER H'CAP - 1100M.

Near the 800m., LEICA NARROW had to be steadied when MY TEMPEST shifted in.

Passing the 200m., SLIDING DOWNHILL made contact on a number of occasions with the tiring BANDIERA.

RACE 6: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE - BRISBANE NORTH-WEST H'CAP - 1100M.

Apprentice M. Waddington was fined $100 for being overweight on HOPE TO GLORY. Subsequently M. Waddington was replaced by apprentice S. Wright.

On jumping away, YABADABADOO shifted in, taking JAFFAJACK across the heels of ALMIGHTY STIRRER.

WITH MY and JANEY JEAN made contact at the start, and after travelling a short distance, were then tightened between KNOW IT ALL and LA BERET, both of which shifted ground due to jumping away awkwardly.

Approaching the 500m., YABADABADOO shifted out abruptly, taking LA BERET and STAND TO OVATION wider on the track.

Passing the 400m., ASTUTE SPRITE, which was inclined to hang out, shifted out and made contact with YABADABADOO and shortly after shifted in abruptly, which resulted in JANEY JEAN having to be checked and lose its position. Stewards were of the opinion that no rider error was involved and not further action was taken.

Over the concluding stages, HOPE TO GLORY hung out under pressure.

Passing the 200m., ASTUTE SPRITE shifted out under pressure, taking YABADABADOO and JANEY JEAN wider on the track.

A swab sample was taken from the second placegetter, WITH MY.

RACE 7: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE - METRO SOUTH H'CAP - 1000M.

Trainer A. Martelli was advised that GLASSY'S nomination would be refused until the ownership was in order. Subsequently, A. Martelli was fined $100.

SINISIN, which was unable to be loaded, was declared a late scratching at 4.10 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on SINISIN were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 27 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 19 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that a barrier test certificate would be required for SINISIN prior to its next race start.

Approaching the 900m., DANCE 'N' SWAY shifted in, taking PRIVATE BRIEFING on to REGAL PROMISE, which had to be steadied. Apprentice L. Morrison, rider of DANCE 'N' SWAY, was reprimanded and reminded of her obligations when shifting ground.

Near the 700m., DANCE 'N' SWAY, which was inclined to lay in, again shifted in, resulting in PRIVATE BRIEFING being taken in on to ZALZALLA, which had to be steadied.

DANCE 'N' SWAY, which compounded badly over the concluding stages, was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon, who reported no abnormalities at the time of inspection.

RACE 8: NORTHERN CITY FINANCE - BAYSIDE H'CAP - 1350M.

ADVANCE GUARD was examined by the club's veterinary surgeon at the barriers and found to be sore in the off hind leg. ADVANCE GUARD was withdrawn by stewards at 4.45 p.m.. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on ADVANCE GUARD were ordered to be refunded, with deductions of 12 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 11 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets, applicable to successful wagers placed prior to the withdrawal time. Connections were advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness would be required for ADVANCE GUARD prior to its next race start.

WICKED WOMAN and IN CONTROL made contact on jumping away.

Approaching the 1000m., COVET 'N' BLACK shifted in momentarily hampering IN ON MAGIC. V. Caddy, rider of COVET 'N' BLACK, was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

RACE 1: MR. DEEDS QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1020M

RORY'S NORTH, which was kicked in the near shoulder by another horse in the pre-race testing area, was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon who cleared the horse to start.

On jumping away RORY'S NORTH and KID CHARLEMAGNE made contact.

Apprentice M. McDonald, the rider of ALL THAT GLITTER, was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in approaching the first turn when not quite clear of RORY'S NORTH resulting in that horse being taken in on to KID CHARLEMAGNE which in turn was cramped on to the hind quarters of VARNA.

Approaching the 600m CRAIGLEA BELLS, which was racing ungenerously, improved to the inside of the heels of MR CHEVY, resulting in KID CHARLEMAGNE being taken in on to KOOTENAY which had to be steadied.

MR CHEVY was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.

When placed under pressure by its rider B. Stewart near the 200m, SANDASTA shifted out hampering VARNA and RORY'S NORTH.

After being held up momentarily in the early stages of the straight, WESTERN SUCCESS was inconvenienced over the concluding stages by KID TREASURE which shifted out under pressure.

RACE 2: RAE EASTLAKE MEMORIAL H'CAP - 1350M

As the start was effected FRENCH MOVIE STAR slipped behind and lost ground.

Inside the 1200m COMMAND THE WIND struck the running rail when being steadied off the heels of COMMENDABLE.

G. Colless reported that COMMAND THE WIND was once again inclined to hang in during the event.

RACE 3: QUEENSLAND BREEDERS & OWNERS ASSOCIATION H'CAP - 1640M

At the request of its rider M. Pelling, RENAZZO was examined behind the barriers by the Club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

When BOMBAY SAPPHIRE shifted out around the heels of MARBINE to obtain clear running at the 250m, FRENCH GENTLEMAN was taken out on to ICY PRIDE which in turn caused some inconvenience to RENAZZO. When placed under pressure, BOMBAY SAPPHIRE continued to drift out, hampering FRENCH GENTLEMAN. L. Appo, the rider of BOMBAY SAPPHIRE, was cautioned and urged to exercise more care.

Over the final 150m OELAND was held up behind the tiring CENTONA.

RACE 4: JAMIE PHEROUS H'CAP - 2040M

Trainer D. Gafa was fined $25 for presenting AMAIZCAY without blinkers.

As BRASSED attempted to improve quickly around AGGRO at the 800m, AGGRO shifted out making contact with BRASSED, causing that horse some inconvenience.

KYMESSA shifted ground outwards under pressure over the concluding stages. The Club's veterinary surgeon reported that KYMESSA pulled up sore in both fetlock joints, particularly the near fore.

Trainer D. Gafa advised that in light of today's slightly disappointing performance, AMAIZCAY would be sent for a spell.

RACE 5: FUTURE FLOOR SERVICES H'CAP - 1200M

VIVID MISS jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly, tightening CAPICE on to LITTLE DEUCE COUPE which as a consequence lost ground.

On the first turn JENIBRIA ran up on to the heels of PEDRO'S GIRL and had to be checked.

RACE 6: ELLINTHORPE STUD H'CAP - 1350M

For some distance after leaving the barriers IN OUR TIME raced in restricted room between HIDDEN CAMERA and COOLAWIN.

After travelling 50m MOUGI lost ground when tightened for room between MIGHT AND GOLD and MAJOR VICTORY which was taken out by FOREVER MISSED.

Passing the 300m HUGE YEAR ran up on to the heels of IN OUR TIME. Soon afterwards HUGE YEAR shifted out obliging IN OUR TIME to be steadied when cramped on to SCRIBBLY GUM. P. Hammersley, the rider of HUGE YEAR, was urged to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

MAJOR VICTORY was held up for a clear run until after passing the 200m.

RACE 7: PMACC H'CAP - 1200M

L. Morrison, the rider of JILLINA BLUE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that near the 150m she permitted her mount to shift in when not clear of PORT CALL, resulting in that horse having to be checked. L. Morrison was suspended for a period of 8 meetings to commence immediately and expire at midnight on Thursday, 15 August.

SILENT ASSASSIN was held up for clear running over the concluding stages.

Apprentice V. Caddy, the rider of MR. CASANOVA, was fined $250 for being in breach of AR 137(b) in that he failed to fully test his mount over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 8: HORSES' BIRTHDAY H'CAP - 1110M

On return to scale a protest was lodged by D. Evans, the rider of 4th placegetter MALTESE EDITION, against GREAT CRUSADER (M. McDonald) being declared the winner, alleging interference near the 800m. Whilst it was established that GREAT CRUSADER had shifted in approaching the first turn causing some tightening to VETERAN, PERLE D'OR and MALTESE EDITION, stewards dismissed the objection as they satisfied that MALTESE EDITION ultimately lots its running as a consequence of PHOROUS shifting away from the running rail to that horse's inside. At a subsequent inquiry, M. McDonald, the rider of GREAT CRUSADER, was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when not quite clear of VETERAN, causing the aforementioned tightening. When MALTESE EDITION lost ground abruptly at the 800m, WISELINK and GREY REGENT had to be checked.

KULNURA blundered badly at the start.

WISELINK jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Approaching the home turn KULNURA had to be steadied away from the heels of LORD KARIOI when taken out slightly by MALTESE EDITION.

INTIMACY, which threw itself down in the parade yard, was subsequently cleared by the Veterinary Surgeon to start.

At the start QUIPPER, ALMIGHTY AL and CENQUALO were hampered by OUR GOLD WARRIOR, which jumped in.

Shortly after the start INTIMACY and BON MATRICE were crowded for room between FRISCO'S ROSE, which shifted in and OUR GOLD WARRIOR, which shifted out.

RACE 2: CLIFFORD PARK VETERANS 3-Y-O MAIDEN H'CAP - 1000M.

Trainer K Kemp was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare the rider for YOUR LION EYES by the required time.

FAIRLY BROKE, which broke through the front of the barriers, was restrained after going a short distance. The Veterinary Surgeon subsequently cleared FAIRLY BROKE to start.

SHEZAWRAN and WINNUNGA made heavy contact on jumping away. In this incident WINNUNUGA knuckled.

FAIRLY BROKE, CREBIUS and LOVE AND GOLD jumped away awkwardly.

MAJOR MACLEOD got its head up whilst being eased shortly after the start.

Near the 950m REGAL CORINTO lost ground when tightened for room by PICWORTH, which was taken in by CREBIUS (N Tomizawa), which shifted in whilst lying in. N Tomizawa was severely reprimanded for not making sufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting in.

VALLUGA shifted out over the concluding stages.

LOVE AND GOLD raced wide in the early and middle stages.

At the start SIMPSON DESERT was crowded for room between PEDRO'S MIGHTY, which jumped out and MILITARIUS.

FAST BID pulled hard in the early stages.

Rounding the home turn MILITARIUS was forced wider on the track by YARNS.

Approaching the 250m GOLDEN SILVER was taken in by PEDRO'S MIGHTY.

Near the 250m GOLDEN SILVER shifted out coming into contact with PEDRO'S MIGHTY. GOLDEN SILVER continued to shift out taking PEDRO'S MIGHTY onto YARNS.

RACE 7: TOOWOOMBA NEWSPAPERS MAIDEN H'CAP - 1300M.

GOLDEN OSCAR was slowly away.

STAND YOUR GROUND, which jumped away awkwardly, shifted in shortly after coming into contact with CATCHING DREAMS.

Leaving the 400m GOLDEN OSCAR was eased when crowded for room by STRONG ?N' BLACK, which rolled in.

Near the 300m GOLDEN OSCAR (G Lynch) shifted out taking STRONG ?N' BLACK out onto the hindquarters of CACHING DREAMS, resulting in STRONG ?N' BLACK being eased. SOVEREIGN SMILE, which was following was eased. Stewards reprimanded G Lynch for permitting his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear. Stewards advised G Lynch that there might have been a minor shift from CACHING DREAMS, which contributed to the incident and that is the reason only a reprimand, was issued.

CATCHING DREAMS raced wide throughout.

RACE 1: CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1460 METRES

Shortly after the start CARBONIZE, which had been slow to begin, was hampered by NUBRICK, which was taken out by MR. HOLLYFIELD.

At the 500 metres CARBONIZE was inconvenienced when shifting around the heels of the tiring MR. HOLLYFIELD.

On straightening FLOCKHART hung in when being ridden along, then down the running continued to hang in obliging its rider, Apprentice T. Maeda to stop riding and straighten at the 100 metres.

RACE 2: OPEN HANDICAP - 1460 METRES

When the gates opened EXPLAIN hit the side of the barriers. A post-race veterinary examination of EXPLAIN revealed that the gelding had a haematoma on the nearside shoulder.

RACE 3: CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1180 METRES

Approaching the 150 metres CARSON was momentarily hampered when attempting a run between ZULATARKA and SHODAMA, both of which shifted ground slightly. A short distance later CARSON shifted out and made contact with ZULATARKA. Simultaneously WATHAM was tightened and had to be steadied away from the heels of SWELL BOY (A. Molino), which shifted in. A. Molino was advised that in similar circumstances he must exercise more care.

RACE 4: MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1180 METRES

On jumping TIN MAG shifted out and contacted GOODBYE BLUES.

STAR CLASS and GODSEND GOLD bumped at the start.

Making the home turn TIN MAG had a tendency to hang out.

RACE 5: CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000 METRES

TIGER'S COURAGE was a little slow to begin.

When questioned about the riding tactics adopted on REGAL PLEASURE, trainer Mr E. Covell explained that he had instructed Jockey D. Bradbery to ride the gelding on the pace and was surprised that REGAL PLEASURE was unable to muster early speed. D. Bradbery advised that in the early stages he urged REGAL PLEASURE along in an endeavour to maintain a forward position, however at no stage in the event did the horse race on the bit. He added that making the home turn he applied further pressure to REGAL PLEASURE, which ran on only fairly and that he was disappointed in the horse's performance. The explanations were noted.

RACE 6: CLASS 6 PLATE - 1000 METRES

The start was delayed when CINO reared and became entangled in the barriers. CINO was examined by the Club veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start. Subsequently trainer Mr R. Rix was advised that a warning had been placed on the barrier manners of CINO.

There were no racing incidents.

GENERAL:

Trainer Mr P. Mullins was fined $50 for nominating RED PYRAMID for the barrier trials at Townsville on Tuesday, 6th August, when a stable return had not been lodged for the horse (LR.42).

Kwilas Charm hung from the 800m to the 400m giving W Orbell a difficult ride. The horse finished on after straightening.

RACE 3: CLASS 3 H'CAP - 1200m
Leaving the 1000m Kalinga Magic lost ground when racing inside Slick Slot. R Barone reported that the horse was not comfortable racing inside another horse and he elected to take hold an move to the outside. Rounding the home turn R Barone dropped his reins and became tangled in the horses mane for some distance. He eventually recovered his hold and went on to win the race.

RACE 4: CLASS 5 H'cap - 1300m
Saranee scratched when no rider available.
Swapped failed to show its usual dash. R Barone stated that the horse did not travel at any stage. Trainer Tom Johnstone felt that the track must have had some bearing on the poor performance as the horse had failed to show anything at Barcaldine previously.
Whiskey Boy drifted out under pressure.

RACE 5: OPEN H'CAP - 1050m
Neat ?N' Tidy scratched when no rider available.

PIRATE'S DEN (C Clarke) jumped away awkwardly as the start was affected.

RACE 2: SPECIAL CONDITIONS H'CAP - 1000 METRES (5 STARTERS)
Jockey J Piper the rider of NOOPY was admonished by the Stewards for allowing his mount to shift in and hamper the running of FIANDER (App J Dagan) at approximately the 800 metre mark.


RACE 3: CLASS 1 H'CAP - 1100 METRES (7 STARTERS)
MY OLD CONSULTANT was a late scratching by order of the Stewards at 2.25pm after the horse failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time. Stewards intend to interview Trainer Mr W Wormer as to his reasons for failing to arrive on course.
SISTER OF NED (C Clarke) was a late scratching at 3.23pm by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice after the horse had reared over in the barriers and sustained an injury to its mouth. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards ordered that deductions be made at a rate of 17 cents in the dollar for the win portion of the bet and 19 cents in the dollar for the place portion of the bet.
Trainer R Stephens was advised that SISTER OF NED must now successfully pass an official barrier trial prior to being permitted to start again.
As the gates opened MISTER BANKER (B Appo) and TAMESA (S Quick) came together.
When rounding the home turn GRITTY (A Williams) shifted outwards off the fence which resulted in NIMAGIRRA (App J Dagan) being taken wide onto the track.

RACE 4: CLASS 5 H'CAP - 1300 METRES (6 STARTERS)
Trainer Allan Jenkinson was fined the sum of $25 under the terms of LR 47 for failing to supply a letter of authority to the Stewards for his horse ALL THINGS (NZ).
At approximately the 1200 metre mark MALDWAY (B Appo) shifted inwards and bumped ROUGH ?EM UP (S Quick).
Jockey J Piper reported to the Stewards that his mount TRANSPOSE hung out over the concluding stages of the event.

RACE 5: MAIDEN H'CAP - 1400 METRES (7 STARTERS)
As the start was affected LITTLE MORE (A Williams) jumped inwards.
ALGASKAY (C Clarke) was slow into stride as the gates opened.

MACHTIG MIHI CORDA hung out rounding the home turn.

GUILDERS was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NO PROMISES jockey N Day stated he had to ride the filly hard in the early stages to keep in touch with the field however NO PROMISES failed to run on. He added that whilst the filly had started favourite he believed she raced consistent with her previous barrier trial form.
A post race Veterinary examination of NO PROMISES failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 2: NORTH COAST FOODS HANDICAP - 1600M.

Trainer W Quinlan was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare N Day as the rider of REGAL XYLOPHONE by the prescribed time.

Apprentice Robert Graham was fined the sum of $100 for failing to claim his full allowance on DUFFIELDS DANE.

After being slow to begin ZHAREEBA was tightened between LA QUALITY and CEEABA DANCER both of which shifted ground.

DESERT MUSIC jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with DUFFIELDS DANE.

Near the 1400 metres LA QUALITY was inclined to shift in and away from JUST A GENERAL and tightened the running of UNCLE BADE and DESERT MUSIC.

ZHAREEBA and CEEABA DANCER both raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

LA QUALITY raced ungenerously in the middle stages.

Near the 200 metres SIOUXMAN was inclined to lay in under pressure and shifted in tightening the running of JUST A GENERAL.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of DESERT MUSIC trainer Bruce McLachlan stated that from a bad alley last start when the filly got back it was reluctant to travel on the bit and failed to run on. He further added that DESERT MUSIC trialed well with blinkers, which it carried today as a gear change and from a better alley today DESERT MUSIC raced handier and keener.

RACE 3: G & L SCAFFOLDING PTY LTD PLATE - 1200M.

Jockey J Byrne rider of DISPORTS was fined the sum of $50 for returning to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight.

PIC OF THE PEARLS jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with DON PICCOLO which became unbalanced.

DISPORTS was slow to begin.

Near the 900 metres ABSTRACTED had to be steadied off the heels of MISS LEHAAR when the pace slackened.

Near the 450 metres DISPORTS shifted out to improve and struck the heels of NICKY GREY then became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly taking ANGEL'S AFFAIR wider on the track.

BOLD PHARAOH raced wide throughout the event.

RACE 4: CALOUNDRA RSL PLATE - 1200M.

Trainer Gary Ball was fined the sum of $50 for presenting ENACT into the enclosure without the advertised gear.

Trainer Les Ross was fined the sum of $50 for presenting TRUE WHISPER into the enclosure with the incorrect gear.

ENACT was slow to begin.

At the start REMEMBER ROBIN and MISS KIARA were tightened for room between TRAVEMONDE and OBVIOUSLY NORTH, both of which shifted ground.

OBVIOUSLY NORTH raced wide in the early stages.

ENACT was inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight.

DASHIN and TRAVEMONDE both travelled wide throughout the event.

RACE 5: AMBASSADOR TRAVEL SERVICES HANDICAP - 2200M.

TRISTRAM GREY was declared a late scratching at 3.01pm when the gelding reared in the barriers dislodging and injury jockey J Hoopert.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on TRISTRAM GREY were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 17c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 15c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.

After passing the 1500 metres STEEL 'N' VET shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of BETTER LIGHT.

STAR STRIKE was forced to race wide in the early stages of the event.

When questioned regarding the performance of STAR STRIKE apprentice M Rice stated that after jumping the gelding raced ungenerously until near the 1600 metres and as a result was unable to lead as it did at its last start. He further added that when STAR STRIKE was placed under pressure from the 800 metres the gelding failed to respond and failed to run on.
A post race Veterinary examination of STAR STRIKE failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 6: SPC CLEANING SERVICE HANDICAP - 1000M.

MISS RUTHERFORD was slow to begin.

After jumping away awkwardly CRAIGLEA QUEEN was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 7: QUEENSLAND PROVINCIAKL CLUBS CONFERENCE HANDICAP - 1400M.

Trainer Glen Boody was fined the sum of $100 for negligence in the saddling of KUMATAI which ultimately had to be re-saddled in the enclosure.

PRINCE OF PEMM was slow to begin.

TRISTA LAD jumped away awkwardly.

A post race Veterinary examination of MR LISTER failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 8: SUNCOAST CABS FARECARD HANDICAP - 1200M.

As apprentice D Gay was stood down by the Club Doctor following his ride in Race 7 he was replaced on PUNNETS LANE by apprentice D Ballard.

On jumping REVIEW GOLD was tightened for room between LUSKIN'S RISING and SPLENDID SEQUENCE which shifted out.

When racing ungenerously approaching the 800 metres PUNNETS LANE shifted in taking REVIEW GOLD in on to OFFICE BOY which had to be checked.

Near the 800 metres SPLENDID SEQUENCE commenced to hang out and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of LUSKIN'S RISING.
SPLENDID SEQUENCE continued to hang out until straightening.

Near the 200 metres PUNNETS LANE had to be steadied off the heels of LUSKIN'S RISING which was taken out by VICTORY HONOURS.

Near the 100 metres D Miller rider of HEAVENLY DANE had to stop riding and straighten his mount when it was inclined to shift out under pressure.

FULMINEO and LUSKIN'S RISING was obliged to race wide throughout the event.
