Gold Coast Abandoned After Three Races

Heavy rain and a deteroriating track have led to the majority of the meeting on the Gold Coast today being abandoned.

Only three of the eight scheduled races were run before stewards pulled the plug on the meeting because of inclement weather and the state of the track.

The third race was won by National Spirit a four-year-old Splendent mare from the local Guy stable. It brought up a double for Guy, who'd saddled up the first race winner Alfriston (Pentire).

The second race honours fell to Zeigfried, a locally trained entire by Hula Chief.
