RACE 4: PRO LOVE

RACE 1: PHIL DOOLAN EARTHMOVING MAIDEN HANDICAP - 6 STARTERS

Jockey R. Hammond was replaced by D. Slack-Smith on STOLEN SILVER due to R. Hammond being unable to make the allocated weight. At a subsequent inquiry Jockey R. Hammond was charged under Rule 120(a) for accepting a ride for which he could not ride at the allocated weight. R. Hammond was found guilty of the charge and was fined the sum of $50.

FALCON KNIGHT was slow to jump and missed the start by several lengths. Jockey M. Campbell explained to stewards that the horse threw its head in the air as the gates opened resulting in his slow start.

RACE 2: WINTON EXPRESS & SUNCORP METWAY CLASS 5 HANDICAP - 4 STARTERS

STUMPY JESTER jumped in as the start was affected brushing SEMI DANCER causing that horse slight inconvenience.

RACE 3: WINTON PLUMBING SERVICE & RAY WHITE RURAL CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 5 STARTERS

MAGIC BANNER jumped outwards as the start was affected.

J. Long, the rider of GOODBYE CHIEF, reported to stewards that despite his efforts to ride the horse forward the horse was reluctant to go past MAGIC BANNER who was leading over the concluding stages of the race. J. Long's explanation was noted.

RACE 4: ALEX ELLIOTT (PATRON) HANDICAP - 5 STARTERS.

No racing incidents.

RACE 5: JACK COOMS MEMORIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 5 STARTERS

Trainer B. Seaton presented BUTTERBEAN for Race 5 without pacifiers. Mr Seaton advised that he had submitted a gear change to the Townsville office of the Queensland Thoroughbred Racing Board earlier in the week to remove the pacifiers. Stewards will pursue the matter further.

Stewards questioned Jockeys T. Hill, BILLY MISCHIEF, D. Slack-Smith, STAFINDALE and L. Critoph, BUTTERBEAN, in relation to an incident at approximately the 600 metres point where BILLY MISCHIEF was checked and lost ground. After hearing evidence from the riders concerned and from viewing the film it was ascertained that STAFINDALE had a tendency to hang in despite the efforts of jockey D. Slack-Smith causing BILLY MISCHIEF to be checked. A warning was placed on the horse. Connections of the horse will be advised of same as they had left the course.

GENERAL
GREY HOPE nominated for today's meeting was found to be ineligible for the race. The trainer of the horse was not present on course. Stewards will pursue the matter further.

All winners were swabbed and samples sent for analysis.

All horses that competed at the meeting were inspected and identified.
