GENERAL - Stewards finalised an adjourned inquiry into the reason why

Saturday 27/07/02 which lead to the late scratching of MISS TUI due to a
lack of riders. Apprentice Attard pleaded guilty to a charge under Local
Rule 51 (1) and had his licence to ride in races suspended for 4 weeks to
commence at midnight on Thursday 8th of August 2002 and to expire at
midnight on Thursday the 5th of September 2002.

REGAL DEMON was inclined to hang in for the majority of the event and near

out.

REGAL DEMON was held up for clear running for the most of the home straight.

When questioned over the performance of REGAL DEMON and also his ride on the
gelding particularly between the 700m and the 300m Jockey W.Binder stated
that REGAL DEMON again wanted to hang in as it was inclined to do at its
previous start in Mackay and that near the 700m POWER PACK had shifted out
in front of him and rather than get pushed too wide around the corner
elected to go back to the fence and save ground. He also stated that when he
wanted to shift to the outside soon after straightening was unable to force
a run when POWER PACK held its ground and was obliged to shift back in to
seek a run. In this incident W.Binder claimed that REGAL DEMON was
accidentally hit over the head on two occasions by the whip of App. L.Attard
the rider of POWER PACK. Trainer R.Adair stated that REGAL DEMON is looking
for more ground and that he elected to start in today's event as there are
no more suitable races in the following two weeks leading up to the Amateur
carnivals in Townsville and Cairns. He also felt that REGAL DEMON might be
suffering some sort of chiropractic problem with its neck, which is why it
has wanted to hang in. Both explanations were noted. A post race vet
examination of REGAL DEMON failed to reveal any abnormalities.

M.Attard the trainer of POWER PACK reported that the gelding had injured its
near side eye after being hit with a clod of dirt.

When questioned over the performance of I'M COMFY which tailed off and
finished a long last Jockey R.Pujolas could offer no explanation other than
he felt the mare may have resented sand fill coming back into its face in
the early stages. Trainer N.Perry stated that the mare suffered from shin
soreness early on in its career and appeared to not have come up this
preparation. Mr Perry stated that I'M COMFY would be retired. A post race
vet examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
