On return to scale a protest was lodged by S. Campton the rider of 2nd placegetter INTRACTABLE against ZOFFEE TOFFEE (G. Birney) being declared the winner, alleging interference rounding the home turn. It was established that after entering the home straight INTRACTABLE was unable to take advantage of a run between SETCLASE which shifted out away from the rail and ZOFFEE TOFFEE which shifted in marginally. As a result S. Campton (INTRACTABLE) elected to shift to the outside of the heels of ZOFFEE TOFFEE to improve. Stewards were not satisfied that INTRACTABLE had full purchase on this run and the protest was therefore dismissed.

Passing the 900 metres FIRE ANT shifted in and momentarily crowded MANICURED.

Inside the 500 metres MANICURED had to be steadied to avoid the heels of the tiring COERCED.

Erhart against DIFFICULT (C. Prosser) being declared the winner. Both protests alleged interference inside the 200 metres. It was established that approaching the 200 metres DIFFICULT commenced to shift out under hard riding which resulted in JO MAC being taken out and as a result bumped DESERTLINE. Inside the 100 metres DIFFICULT again shifted out under pressure which resulted in JO MAC having to alter course to the inside to avoid that runner's heels. Stewards dismissed the objection 3rd against 2nd as they were satisfied that the contact between JO MAC and DESERTLINE was as a direct result of the shift by DIFFICULT. The protest 2nd against 1st was also dismissed as Stewards were not satisfied that the interference suffered by JO MAC in these incidents warranted a reversal of placings.

At a subsequent enquiry C. Prosser (DIFFICULT) was severely reprimanded and advised to make a greater effort in future to prevent her mounts shifting ground.
