FROM QTC MEETING 24.09.02: K. Bell was fined $50 for being overweight and failing to fulfil his engagements on DORADA and ROJAH FORREST.

RACE 1: BRIAN CATER H'CAP - 1000M

TYGALGAH hung out throughout the event. Trainer R. Walsh was advised that TYGALGAH would have to successfully barrier trial prior to its next race start.

Passing the 900m MODERN STYLE was inclined to race ungenerously for some distance.

MERVYN was inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.

Over the concluding stages TYGALGAH had to be steadied off the heels of MR POITIER.

FAST SHOT lost its off hind plate in running.

RACE 2: SKIP COLLYER H'CAP - 1000M

Trainer G. Heinrich was fined $50 for presenting CRYSTAL SECRET with the incorrect gear.

BLENHAM ELECT jumped away slowly and a short distance later shifted in and blundered after contacting the heels of MAGIC GIRL.

CRYSTAL SECRET raced greenly in the early stages and approaching the 800m shifted in resulting in PRINCESS RORY being hampered.

ZOFFAZAM also raced erratically in the early stages and after leaving the 800m shifted in resulting in CILL AIRNE'S GHOST having to be steadied.

Approaching the home turn CILL AIRNE'S GHOST had to be steadied between ACUTE AQUILA and ZOFFAZAM which shifted out slightly.

CILL AIRNE'S GHOST lost its off fore plate in running.

RACE 3: FRED MACDONALD H'CAP - 1000M

As M. Dracos was indisposed, M. Rodd was substituted as the rider of DONTA BATDY.

Stewards accepted trainer K. Keidge's explanation as to the reason why KING CAL failed to arrive on course by the prescribed time.

SAIL THE WIND jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

NIVEN was slow to begin.

DITTYDOO was caught wide throughout the event.

SLIDING DOWNHILL was disappointed for a run leaving the 300m.

A swab sample was taken from KING CAL.

RACE 4: ROGER HERRING H'CAP - 1100M

Due to a clerical error, M. Rice was shown in the racebook as the rider of RESERVE RAIDER when in fact M. Rodd was the declared rider for that gelding.

FLYING BOOGIE, which was slow to begin, was further hampered by RESERVE RAIDER which was taken out by CLASSY PRINCE.

BELLA FUSE shifted out shortly after the start inconveniencing FAIRY DUST, TEAKER'S BLUE STAR and VALHULLA.

Passing the 800m VALHULLA shifted in when racing ungenerously, resulting in both FAIRY DUST and MIGHT BE MAGIC being hampered.

Approaching the home turn AUTUMN shifted out resulting in both LIKE A SOUTHERLY and OBE WAN KENOBI being taken wider on the track.

Passing the 150m CLASSY PRINCE shifted out under pressure resulting in AUTUMN being buffeted for some distance between that runner and LIKE A SOUTHERLY, resulting in all three runners becoming unbalanced.

MIGHT BE MAGIC was held up and unable to obtain clear running after rounding the home turn until a point near the 100m.

After leaving the 100m LOCHRAE PRINCESS had to be steadied to avoid the heels of RESERVE RAIDER which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider M. Rodd.

Approaching the finishing line CLASSY PRINCE had to be steadied to avoid the heels of OBE WAN KENOBI which shifted out after improving up on to the heels of FAIRY DUST.

RACE 5: RON ARCHER QTIS ADDED STAKES H'CAP - 1100M

Trainer R. Maund was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for JUST AMAZON by the prescribed time.

Trainer G. Heinrich was fined $50 for presenting KAVANAGH with the incorrect gear.

Due to a misunderstanding A. Parramore failed to arrive on course to take his mount on JUST AMAZON. Stewards accepted A. Parramore's explanation. D. Tanti was substituted as the rider of JUST AMAZON.

AVISPA DELA MAKTIG made contact with the gates prior to the start being effected and was subsequently examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

AVISPA DELA MAKTIG jumped away very awkwardly.

NEW METHOD was tightened for room on jumping away between KAVANAGH and JUST AMAZON, both of which shifted ground.

On jumping away STOP DREAMING shifted out and brushed IRELAND HOME.

Approaching the 800m AVISPA DELA MAKTIG shifted out and bumped KAVANAGH. STOP DREAMING, which was following, had to be checked off the heels of KAVANAGH.

MANDINO raced greenly throughout the event.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of KAVANAGH, M. Rodd stated that shortly after the start the horse failed to stretch out and when placed under pressure rounding the home turn failed to respond. He added that in his opinion the horse was sore in front and therefore he retired KAVANAGH from the event. KAVANAGH was subsequently examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon who reported that he could find no apparent abnormality. Trainer G. Heinrich was at a loss to explain the horse's performance today and undertook to inform stewards of anything which may come to light in the coming days. A swab sample was taken from KAVANAGH.

RACE 6: WANDERERS CRICKET CLUB H'CAP - 2150M

As M. Rice was indisposed, M. Rodd was substituted as the rider of AQUA LEONE, and C. Spry was substituted as the rider of CORAL ISLE (Race 8).

ANOTHER GENERAL shifted out abruptly soon after the start inconveniencing JUSTALIZA, KANAZAWA and MIDNIGHT MOON.

SAHARA CANNY pulled hard in the early stages.

TRAIT shifted out passing the 200m and brushed SILVANUS when attempting to obtain clear running.

RACE 7: BARRA BOB BALMER H'CAP - 1200M

Due to transport difficulties, C. Spry failed to arrive to take his mount on MAYFLY and was replaced by M. Rodd and by S. McLean on CORAL ISLE (Race 8).

Leaving the 1100m COOROOMAN STAR had to be steadied when tightened for room between CHARVILLA, which shifted out, and MAYFLY, which was taken in momentarily by JESSPHINE. G. Colless, the rider of JESSPHINE, was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

RACE 8: UNCLE PAULIE HANDRAN H'CAP - 1350M

KHAADESH jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

ANNOUNCER was slow to begin.

ALL WINNERS, KING CAL AND KAVANAGH WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
