GENERAL: As Anthony Pattillo was indisposed he was replaced on YOOGALI GIRL (Race 2) by M Carson and on TRUE WHISPER (Race 4) by J Byrne.

As Aaron Kennedy was indisposed he was replaced as follows:
Race 2: UNCLE BADE B Swanton
Race 4 ENACT J Stanley
Race 6 DAME NOVA N Day
Race 7 HEPTATHLON S Galloway

As apprentice Yoshi Yamazaki was indisposed he was replaced on PUNNETS LANE (Race 8) by apprentice D Gay.

RACE 1: SHEARWATER RESORT HANDICAP - 1000M.

MACHTIG MIHI CORDA hung out rounding the home turn.

GUILDERS was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of NO PROMISES jockey N Day stated he had to ride the filly hard in the early stages to keep in touch with the field however NO PROMISES failed to run on. He added that whilst the filly had started favourite he believed she raced consistent with her previous barrier trial form.
A post race Veterinary examination of NO PROMISES failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 2: NORTH COAST FOODS HANDICAP - 1600M.

Trainer W Quinlan was fined the sum of $50 for failing to declare N Day as the rider of REGAL XYLOPHONE by the prescribed time.

Apprentice Robert Graham was fined the sum of $100 for failing to claim his full allowance on DUFFIELDS DANE.

After being slow to begin ZHAREEBA was tightened between LA QUALITY and CEEABA DANCER both of which shifted ground.

DESERT MUSIC jumped awkwardly and made heavy contact with DUFFIELDS DANE.

Near the 1400 metres LA QUALITY was inclined to shift in and away from JUST A GENERAL and tightened the running of UNCLE BADE and DESERT MUSIC.

ZHAREEBA and CEEABA DANCER both raced wide in the early and middle stages of the event.

LA QUALITY raced ungenerously in the middle stages.

Near the 200 metres SIOUXMAN was inclined to lay in under pressure and shifted in tightening the running of JUST A GENERAL.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of DESERT MUSIC trainer Bruce McLachlan stated that from a bad alley last start when the filly got back it was reluctant to travel on the bit and failed to run on. He further added that DESERT MUSIC trialed well with blinkers, which it carried today as a gear change and from a better alley today DESERT MUSIC raced handier and keener.

RACE 3: G & L SCAFFOLDING PTY LTD PLATE - 1200M.

Jockey J Byrne rider of DISPORTS was fined the sum of $50 for returning to scale in excess of 1/2kg overweight.

PIC OF THE PEARLS jumped away awkwardly and made heavy contact with DON PICCOLO which became unbalanced.

DISPORTS was slow to begin.

Near the 900 metres ABSTRACTED had to be steadied off the heels of MISS LEHAAR when the pace slackened.

Near the 450 metres DISPORTS shifted out to improve and struck the heels of NICKY GREY then became unbalanced and shifted out abruptly taking ANGEL'S AFFAIR wider on the track.

BOLD PHARAOH raced wide throughout the event.

RACE 4: CALOUNDRA RSL PLATE - 1200M.

Trainer Gary Ball was fined the sum of $50 for presenting ENACT into the enclosure without the advertised gear.

Trainer Les Ross was fined the sum of $50 for presenting TRUE WHISPER into the enclosure with the incorrect gear.

ENACT was slow to begin.

At the start REMEMBER ROBIN and MISS KIARA were tightened for room between TRAVEMONDE and OBVIOUSLY NORTH, both of which shifted ground.

OBVIOUSLY NORTH raced wide in the early stages.

ENACT was inclined to lay out under pressure in the straight.

DASHIN and TRAVEMONDE both travelled wide throughout the event.

RACE 5: AMBASSADOR TRAVEL SERVICES HANDICAP - 2200M.

TRISTRAM GREY was declared a late scratching at 3.01pm when the gelding reared in the barriers dislodging and injury jockey J Hoopert.
On the announcement of correct weight all monies invested on TRISTRAM GREY were ordered to be refunded with deductions of 17c in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 15c in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable.

After passing the 1500 metres STEEL 'N' VET shifted out and had to be steadied off the heels of BETTER LIGHT.

STAR STRIKE was forced to race wide in the early stages of the event.

When questioned regarding the performance of STAR STRIKE apprentice M Rice stated that after jumping the gelding raced ungenerously until near the 1600 metres and as a result was unable to lead as it did at its last start. He further added that when STAR STRIKE was placed under pressure from the 800 metres the gelding failed to respond and failed to run on.
A post race Veterinary examination of STAR STRIKE failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 6: SPC CLEANING SERVICE HANDICAP - 1000M.

MISS RUTHERFORD was slow to begin.

After jumping away awkwardly CRAIGLEA QUEEN was forced to race wide throughout the event.

RACE 7: QUEENSLAND PROVINCIAKL CLUBS CONFERENCE HANDICAP - 1400M.

Trainer Glen Boody was fined the sum of $100 for negligence in the saddling of KUMATAI which ultimately had to be re-saddled in the enclosure.

PRINCE OF PEMM was slow to begin.

TRISTA LAD jumped away awkwardly.

A post race Veterinary examination of MR LISTER failed to reveal any abnormality.

RACE 8: SUNCOAST CABS FARECARD HANDICAP - 1200M.

As apprentice D Gay was stood down by the Club Doctor following his ride in Race 7 he was replaced on PUNNETS LANE by apprentice D Ballard.

On jumping REVIEW GOLD was tightened for room between LUSKIN'S RISING and SPLENDID SEQUENCE which shifted out.

When racing ungenerously approaching the 800 metres PUNNETS LANE shifted in taking REVIEW GOLD in on to OFFICE BOY which had to be checked.

Near the 800 metres SPLENDID SEQUENCE commenced to hang out and made heavy contact with the hind quarters of LUSKIN'S RISING.
SPLENDID SEQUENCE continued to hang out until straightening.

Near the 200 metres PUNNETS LANE had to be steadied off the heels of LUSKIN'S RISING which was taken out by VICTORY HONOURS.

Near the 100 metres D Miller rider of HEAVENLY DANE had to stop riding and straighten his mount when it was inclined to shift out under pressure.

FULMINEO and LUSKIN'S RISING was obliged to race wide throughout the event.

All winners were sent to be swabbed.
