Stewards were satisfied that no single rider was at fault in this incident.

Approaching the 100 metres SWEET ROMANCE was held up behind the heels of the tiring GABIETTE.

C. Whiteley (GOLD ROUBLE) accidentally dropped his whip inside the 250 metres.

Stewards questioned App. S. McDonald regarding her riding of PEKAN LADY in this event. App McDonald stated that she was instructed to settle her mount back in the field if possible but after jumping away well she elected to race in a prominent position as PEKAN LADY was full of running having resumed from a spell. Stewards accepted this explanation but expressed concern that App McDonald remained in a minimum three (3) deep position throughout the event when there was clear opportunity for her to place her mount in a position closer to the fence and save ground. Trainer P. Fleming concurred. Stewards severely reprimanded App. McDonald and cautioned her over her lack of judgement and initiative in today's event.

Abrahams the rider of MY TRUE NORTH was found guilty of a breach of AR175(g) in that at the enquiry into the abovementioned incident he did tender evidence which in the opinion of the Stewards was misleading. Taking into account A. Abraham's good record Stewards issued him with a reprimand for this breach.

Approaching the 150 metres MY TRUE NORTH again had to be momentarily steadied off the heels of ROYAL OPERA which shifted out to improve.
