TRACK - GOOD (Downgraded to DEAD at 10.30 am)

RACE 1: GALLIPOLI MAIDEN HANDICAP - 800M.

AVISPA DELA MAKTIG and SUNDAY BELLS made heavy contact on jumping. A short distance later both runners again made contact.

QUEEN BISCAY was slow to jump.

WAYNE'S SHOT commenced to hang out shortly after the start and continued to do so for the remainder of the event. Trainer W. Farrington was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to its next start.

SUNDAY BELLS was obliged to race wide for the majority of the race.

Approaching the 100 metres, STORM MELODY had to be steadied off the heels of KWILAS CHARM and in doing so shifted out making contact with SUNDAY BELLS.

Over the concluding stages KARMA QUEST shifted out under pressure which resulted in R. Morris having to stop riding and straighten his mount.

RACE 2: KAPYONG MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1000M.

KRUGER'S GIFT jumped away awkwardly. LOVE SING was slow to jump.

Apprentice F. Critch reported that shortly after the start she was struck in the left eye by a clod. Apprentice Critch further stated that due to the pain she was unable to fully test FLYING PLUME for the remainder of the race. Approaching the 600 metres, FLYING PLUME shifted in which resulted in NIGELLA having to be steadied and lose its position. Due to the circumstances, no direct action was taken by Stewards.

MR. DOOLEY suffered a bleeding attack during the event. The gelding will incur a mandatory 3 months ban from racing. A swab sample was taken from MR. DOOLEY.

RACE 3: CORAL SEA CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1000M.

Due to an injury sustained in race 2, Fiona Critch was replaced by apprentice Mitchell Rice on CORAL ISLE.

ALL SUGARED UP jumped in at the start and made contact with MALDREAMI.

KALINGA HERO jumped away awkwardly and shifted out and made contact with PRINCESS GLORIA.

Shortly after the start CORAL ISLE shifted out and made contact with MACHTIG PONOTEVICH.

Approaching the 800 metres, MACHTIG PONOTEVICH had to be steadied when ZALZALLA was taken in by KALINGA HERO. P. Spry was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

ZALZALLA was obliged to race wide from the 600 metres until approaching the home turn.

RACE 4: TOBRUK MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1200M.

BERI STAR CRAZY which broke through the barriers and completed a circuit of the track, was declared a late scratching at 2.55 pm acting on Stewards advice. On the announcement of correct weight, Stewards ordered that all monies invested on BERI STAR CRAZY to be refunded with deductions of 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets being applicable. Jockey P. Lindeberg was advised that he must remain in the saddle once loaded in the barriers.

PRIVATE VIEWING which broke through the barriers, was quickly restrained by jockey R. Hancock, was examined by the club veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

Approaching the 1000 metres, KALINGA PIE shifted in taking MILLCAY in onto WIRRADILLA which had to be steadied. M. Heagney was advised to ensure that he gives riders to his inside sufficient room.

CLEAR ICE which finished a distant last, was examined by the club veterinary surgeon which reported that the gelding had suffered an injury to the near shoulder. Trainer R. Kernick was advised that a veterinary certificate of soundness must be produced prior to CLEAR ICE's next start.

RACE 5: LONG TAN HANDICAP - 1200M.

No racing incidents.

RACE 6: KOKODA CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1200M.

COLOUR MY WORLD jumped away awkwardly and shifted out taking GOLD HEART out onto NEIGH HIGH. Jockey M. Crawford, the rider of COLOUR MY WORLD, stated that after passing the 800 metres, his saddle shifted forward and placed him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the event.

The following winners were swabbed: AVISA PA DELA MACHTIG, VIA DANTE, SANJANI and MR. DOOLEY.
