Inside the 100 metres AKAL (C. Lever) was obliged to steady when tightened by LADY ASHLYN (N. Tomizawa), which shifted in and away from LADY MILINA (J. Maund).

RACE 3 – SUNSMART MAIDEN PLATE – 1050 metres

GREAT APPEAL was withdrawn by Stewards at 9.50 a.m., acting on confirmed advice from Trainer Mr. A. McEvoy the gelding had become cast in its stall overnight and was unfit to start.

The start of this race was delayed owing to JUGAH’S LANDING proving difficult to load. Mr. D. Clarken, Trainer of JUGAH’S LANDING, was advised the filly was suspended from racing until it could load satisfactorily in an organised barrier trial.

After being loaded A FEATHERED TALE (P. Gatt) broke through the front of the stalls and galloped riderless around the course. After being recaptured in the vicinity of the Mounting Enclosure A FEATHERED TALE was withdrawn by Stewards at 1.56 p.m., acting on Veterinary advice that the filly was unfit. Mr. G. Lesnikowski, Trainer of A FEATHERED TALE, was advised the filly was suspended from racing until it could load satisfactorily in an organised barrier trial.

BIDDYUP, which was positioned in an adjoining stall to A FEATHERED TALE, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled lame in the near hind leg and unfit to start. Acting on that advice BIDDYUP was withdrawn by Stewards at 1.56 p.m.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on A FEATHERED TALE and BIDDYUP be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:

MONSTROSITY MISS (P. Gatt) was slow to jump.

Inside the 600 metres MONSTROSITY MISS (P. Gatt) was inconvenienced when tightened by LINDROS (B. Claridge), as that gelding was taken in marginally by OUTBACK AUSSIE (D. Tootell).

Approaching the 500 metres OUTBACK AUSSIE (D. Tootell) rolled in and brushed LINDROS (B. Claridge), resulting in that gelding shifting in onto MONSTROSITY MISS (P. Gatt), which was obliged to steady.

Correct Weight was delayed to permit P. Gatt, rider of MONSTROSITY MISS, to view the official footage in the vicinity of the 550 metres. After viewing the film P. Gatt lodged an objection against LINDROS (B. Claridge) being declared the winner, on the grounds of alleged interference in the vicinity of the 550 metres. After considering the evidence, viewing the official footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards, having regard to the beaten margins, were satisfied that the consequence of the incident was not sufficiently significant and dismissed the objection.
