RACE 1 - GAWLER COLOURWORLD / SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD SPECIAL CONDITIONS HANDICAP - 1050 metres

ALL JACK was a late scratching by Stewards at 12.05 p.m., acting on Veterinary advice the gelding had swelling to a near fore tendon.

The start was delayed when COOL RESPONSE proved difficult to load. Trainer Mr. K. Sweeney was advised that a final warning had been placed on COOL RESPONSE in relation to its barrier manners.

MANUNA (C. Bryant) was slow into stride.

Near the 1000 metres SMART DAME (P. Gatt), which was racing greenly, shifted out and bumped FULL OF JEST (W. Kerford), which in turn shifted out onto LIQUIDITY LASS (J. Bowditch), which also shifted out and bumped MISSY VIVIAN (R. Faehr).

ENCANTARA (N. Spencer) raced greenly throughout the event.

SOLOMON (J. Holder) showed a tendency to race greenly over the concluding stages.

MISSY VIVIAN lost its off hind plate during the event.

RACE 2 - LRM CONSTRUCTIONS / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE (1st Division) - 1400 metres

RANGATAUNGA (W. Kerford) jumped out at the start and bumped LUKE WARM (M. Henderson).

Racing inside the 1300 metres TEENAMENA (B. Dunn) shifted in, at the same time as IT’S A GREY (M. Neilson) shifted out slightly and as a result MIGHTY BULLDOG (D. Yendall) had to be steadied for a few strides.

RACE 3 - WALKER & KEIPERT REAL ESTATE / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE (2nd Division) - 1400 metres

The start was delayed when REGAL OCCASION (N. Tomizawa) proved difficult to load. Trainer Mr. B. Pateyjohns was advised the mare must complete a Barrier Trial and be loaded without delay to the satisfaction of the Stewards, before accepting for any future event.

KOODA SAN (C. Bryant) showed a tendency to over-race in the early stages.

Inside the 400 metres KOODA SAN (C. Bryant) was hampered by the tiring CLOUDS OF FIRE (S. Price).

Near the 250 metres MANGO (J. Lyon), which was racing greenly, shifted out and as a result KATE’S ACE (J. Potter) had to be checked. Shortly after MANGO rolled in, again inconveniencing KATE’S ACE.

RACE 4 - KEN BRERETON MEMORIAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1050 metres

Near the 600 metres CHEVITA (N. Tomizawa) shifted out slightly, at the same time as SPINNING EAGLE (NZ) (N. Paine) shifted in slightly and as a result STAAR TOFF (J. Potter) was tightened for galloping room. In consequence STAAR TOFF lost its position. Stewards could not attribute blame to any one rider.

Approaching the 200 metres POLICIA (J. O’Connor) laid out and as a result TIA JANE (P. Gatt) was inconvenienced for a few strides.

Over the concluding stages CHEVITA (N. Tomizawa) shifted in and inconvenienced SPINNING EAGE (NZ) (N. Paine).

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of TIA JANE revealed the filly had returned lame in the near fore leg. Trainer Mr. D. Baylis was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required prior to accepting for a future event.

RACE 5 - RHEEM AUSTRALIA CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1400 metres

The start was delayed when MR. VANDAAM proved difficult to load. Trainer Mr. S. Jones was advised the gelding must complete a Barrier Trial and be loaded without delay to the satisfaction of the Stewards, before accepting for any future event.

ZAKURO (J. Bowditch) and COMO PRINCE (P. Gatt) brushed together for a short distance after the start.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres BLUE PRINCESS (S. Price) showed a tendency to lay in.

In the vicinity of the 100 metres YUNKINGCOLE (D. Yendall) changed stride and dipped.

MR. VANDAAM (J. Maund) was eased out of the race over the concluding stages. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 6 - KFC/BASIC STEEL SUPPLIES GAWLER CUP - 1950 metres

Near the 1800 metres KAHOONA (N. Paine) shifted in onto VANDECLARE (R. Faehr), which in turn shifted in and bumped EVANS (C. Lever).

C. Lever reported to Stewards that EVANS had pulled hard in the early stages, therefore he elected to move the gelding up towards the leaders in the middles stages, however, as the pace of the race then quickened, it resulted in EVANS having to work harder. Trainer Mr. G. Richards advised Stewards that as EVANS had been in work for a considerable time, he would now be recommending to the connections the gelding be sent for a spell. Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of EVANS revealed the gelding had returned with lacerations to the off side hind leg.

KAHOONA (N. Paine) raced wide throughout the event.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of KAHOONA revealed the gelding had returned with lacerations to both hind legs.

RACE 7 - CARLTON DRAUGHT FLYING HANDICAP - 1200 metres

Inside the 200 metres DISCO TIME (J. Holder) shifted out and brushed TOVA (S. Price), which in turn shifted out and brushed BRINKLEY LASS (B. Claridge).

Correct Weight was delayed to enable Mr. G. Richards, Trainer of HAND PASS, to view the official image for second.

RACE 8 - GAWLER TAXI & HIRE CAR SERVICE CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1600 metres

SIMPLY SUAVE was a late scratching by Stewards at 11.45 a.m., acting on Veterinary advice that the mare had been injured en route to the course.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of WOODPECKER revealed no visible abnormalities.
