Extra Baggage for Regal Kiss

Former Sydney Group winning juvenile Regal Kiss will be carrying more than her owner's hopes and punters dollars when she runs in Saturday's $24,000 Limerick Lane Thoroughbreds Handicap (1000m) at Victoria Park.

The talented Adelaide mare will be carring another passenger in the event and not just race jockey Jason Holder.

The Reisling Slipper Trial Stakes winner is in foal to the exciting young sire Giant's Causeway, a stallion who commanded a fee of $137,500 in his first season at Coolmore Stud last year.

A winner of over $330,000 on the track, Regal Kiss has not started since her narrow second to Calming in the listed Liz Davenport Classic at Morphettville on Adelaide Cup day.

Facing just eight rivals, connections of Regal Kiss will be hoping the mare can keep her unbeaten Victoria Park record in tact on the weekend. She has only been to the track on one other occasion for a strong win.

Plenty of opposition is expected from her rivals on the weekend including Lazing About, Stand By Me and track specialist Heracles.

Lazing About, who is stabled about 100 metres from Regal Kiss at Peter Jolly's Morphettville stables, has not started for over a year and Jolly has engaged two-kilo claimer Linda Meech to help ease his burden of 61 kilograms.

The Port Augusta trained and West Coast owned Stand By My looks a great chance in the race after a strong first up run at Morphettville on New Year's Day. Despite being trapped deep and striking interference the son of Umatilla was still there matching it with the placegetters at the business end of the race. The winner of that particular event, the John Hawkes trained Sea Rover, is also taking his place in this race.

The Joe Hall trained, and Rod Menzies owned Heracles, has an imposing record at the track for four wins and four seconds from eight starts and he is expected the prove the testing material of all of his opponents.
