One of the World's Best Riding Briefly at Ceduna

Racegoers attending Saturday's lowly non-Tab meeting at Ceduna on South Australia's far west coast had one of world's best riders set to compete at the meeting for a few minutes this morning.

A clerical error during acceptances had the champion South African and current Hong Kong based star Robbie Fradd as the rider of one of the horses at the meeting.

When the initial fields were released just after 11am today, Fradd was down to ride the eight-year-old sprinter Hurlstonian in the Parnell Mogas Flying Handicap (1200m), a race worth just $2,500.

With a few letters jumbled in the surname the correct engagement was later verified as apprentice rider Robbie Faehr.

A bigger than average crowd is expected to converge on the "Christmas Come Early" meeting in the town on Saturday.

With festivities still continuing from the recent total solar eclipse of the sun, many revellers are expected to take advantage of Ceduna's first pre-Christmas meeting.

Marquee packages have been booked out, while horse nominations and jockey numbers were better than expected.

The current weather forecast is for fine and warm weather and a good to fast racing surface.

And those who are going to be on course, including yours truly, perhaps you can make a quid by backing the "non-winner" Southern Touch in the first of five races, which will jump at 1.37pm (local time).
