RACE 1 – ELDERS MERCHANDISE / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 metres:

Correct Weight was delayed to permit M. Neilson, rider of the 2nd Placegetter MOI, wished to view the official Stewards head-on patrol film of the finish.

NEAT CHANGE (J. Lyon) shifted in over the concluding stages and slightly inconvenienced MOI (M. Neilson).

RACE 2 – PARNELL MOGAS HANDICAP – 1950 metres:

Near the 200 metres CASH LOAN (C. Lindop), which was showing a tendency to lay in, shifted in, forcing its rider to stop riding and straighten her mount.

RACE 3 – REG KEMP REAL ESTATE HANDICAP – 1000 metres:

STAR AGLOW (M. Neilson), which broke through the barriers, was quickly restrained, examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and declared fit to start.

Trainer Mr. D. Carrison pleaded guilty to a charge under ARR 118A and was fined $100 for adding a girth cover to the gear of Apprentice J. Lyon, after he had weighed out for the event.

RACE 4 – ELDERS WOOL CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 metres:

EIRE’S BABE (B. Claridge) showed a tendency to over-race in the early stages.

RACE 5 – ELDERS RURAL BANK DISTANCE CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1950 metres:

KEEP GOING (N. Tomizawa) jumped out at the start and bumped heavily with BLUE WONDER (M. Neilson). Shortly after KEEP GOING shifted out again onto BLUE WONDER, which in turn shifted out and hampered LADY RANSOM (B. Vale), resulting in that mare losing its position.

Near the 200 metres on the first occasion, PAINT THE EVES (J. Burgess) shifted in and away from TAX HALO (W. Kerford) and bumped BLUE WONDER (M. Neilson). W. Kerford was reminded of his obligations when shifting ground.

RACE 6 – D K QUARRIES / SABIS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1950 metres:

MOLLY DOLLY (J. Burgess) showed a tendency to lay in, in the straight.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of MOLLY DOLLY revealed no visible abnormalities.

RACE 7 – ELDERS INSURANCE CLASS 5 HANDICAP – 1350 metres:

SPRING DANCE was a late scratching by Stewards at 12.00 p.m., acting on Veterinary advice that the mare was sore in the off hind leg.

RANGER SAM (C. Buchiw) and ILLUSTRIOUS RULER (K. Stra) bumped near the 800 metres.

Subsequent to the race a Veterinary examination of SANUR revealed the mare had returned sore in the off fore leg. Trainer Mr. D. Carrison was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required prior to accepting for a future event.

RACE 8 – ELDERS LIVESTOCK MAIDEN PLATE – 1350 metres:

DANELEAH was a late scratching by Stewards at 9.20 a.m., acting on Veterinary advice.

KALAMAYA (J. Burgess) and BLAZING IMAGE (Darren Holland) were slow to begin.

Approaching the home turn PRINCE D’OR (C. Buchiw) commenced to hang out and as a result KALAMAYA (J. Burgess) was obliged to shift out onto BLAZING IMAGE (Darren Holland), which had commenced a run outside KALAMAYA. At the same time REKORB (N. Tomizawa) shifted in slightly, causing TALUSE (J. Lyon), which was racing between REKORB and BLAZING IMAGE, to be checked and lose its position. In the incident LEVITE (B. Claridge) and SHORE LORD (W. Kerford) were taken wider. No further action was taken as no one rider was deemed responsible.

Near the 200 metres REKORB (N. Tomizawa) shifted in at the same time as JASMYN BLOOMS (C. Lindop) shifted out; as a result BLAZING IMAGE (Darren Holland) had to be steadied and taken to the inside to obtain a clear run.
