RACE 1 – VISCOUNT PLASTICS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1600 metres

CUDDLING (C. Buchiw) shifted in abruptly on jumping away and contacted TASTE THE MAGIC (P. Gatt), taking that gelding in onto TERTIAN’S GAMBLE (J. Maund).

Approaching the 200 metres ACT OF PARLIAMENT (S. Price) shifted in and inconvenienced TASTE OF MAGIC (P. Gatt).

J. Bowditch, rider of NEARMISS, reported the mare was hesitant when racing inside horses and only commenced to respond to his riding when he was able to obtain clear running in the vicinity of the 100 metres.

On return to the enclosure CUDDLING was lame in the off fore leg. CUDDING was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the mare had bowed its off fore tendon. Mr. M. Nunan, Trainer of CUDDLING, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required prior to the mare being accepted for a future event.

RACE 2 – MILL PARK / SABIS TWO-YEAR-OLD SPECIAL CONDITIONS HANDICAP – 1000 metres

The start of this race was delayed owing to FLASH WATERMARK proving difficult to load. Mr. A. J. Selfe, Trainer of the colt, was advised that a repetition of its behaviour would lead to action being taken against it.

JILLIMARG (S. Tronerud) was slow to jump.

Near the 900 metres FLASH WATERMARK (J. Holder) was inclined to race greenly, and as a result PRODUCE A WINNER (P. Gatt) was obliged to steady off its heels.

PRODUCE A WINNER (P. Gatt) was inclined to lay in under pressure in the straight.

From the 300 metres FLASH WATERMARK (J. Holder) was inclined to get its head up and race greenly.

RACE 3 – JOHN PEACOCK FARRIER MAIDEN PLATE – 1000 metres

The start of this race was delayed owing to OUR PEBBLES proving difficult to load. Mr. R. Jennings, Trainer of the mare, was advised similar behaviour in future would lead to action being taken against it.

FILL THE ESKY (J. Maund) was slow to jump.

Near the 500 metres OUR PEBBLES (N. Tomizawa), which became reluctant to race in restricted room, shifted out abruptly and hampered COQUERETTE (J. Bowditch), which was obliged to steady.

RACE 4 – RIVERGLEN MARINA / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD FILLIES MAIDEN PLATE – 1200 metres

Mr. G. Kennewell was questioned regarding his late declaration of a rider for BELL’S SPIRIT. Mr. Kennewell pleaded guilty to a breach of the Rules and was fined $50.

The start of this race was delayed owing to LITTLE MILLIE proving difficult to load. Mr. J. Hickmott, Trainer of LITTLE MILLIE, was advised that a repetition of the filly’s behaviour in leaving the Mounting Enclosure and being loaded would lead to action being taken against it.

GERIWIL (J. Maund) was slow to jump.

In the early stages of the event JAZZY GINA (S. Tronerud) got its head up and raced ungenerously for a considerable distance. S. Tronerud reported the filly raced greenly throughout the event.

RACE 5 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS AUSTRALIA LTD FLYING HANDICAP – 1200 metres

MUSTAAGEL (NZ) (R. Caddies) was slow to jump.

RACE 6 – PRINT MINT CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1200 metres

CHEVITA (J. Bowditch) was slow to jump.

Inside the 600 metres SHEZA RIPPA (D. Cleaver) commenced to lay out and making the turn into the straight shifted out.

In being corrected in the vicinity of the 300 metres SHEZA RIPPA (D. Cleaver) shifted in and brushed MOVED (J. Holder), and afterwards continued to lay out for the remainder of the event.

SHEAZ RIPPA was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

RACE 7 – CHANNEL 7 CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1400 metres

HIONDI was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

Inside the 500 metres STYLISH PLAYBOY (P. Gatt) was inconvenienced when tightened by BISCALATE (S. Tronerud), which rolled in. P. Gatt reported that his mount appeared to resent the pressure and did not extend under pressure in the straight in the manner he had expected. STYLISH PLAYBOY was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

RACE 8 – ALL STOP MOWERS MAIDEN PLATE – 1400 metres

The start of this event was delayed owing to STORMY RHYTHM refusing to load. STORMY RHYTHM was withdrawn by Stewards at 5.12 p.m. After considering a submission from Mr. M. Nunan, Trainer of STORMY RHYTHM, he was advised that a repetition of that mare’s behaviour may lead to action being taken against it.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on STORMY RHYTHM be refunded, with no alteration to betting.

SIR JIM (J. O’Connor) was slow to jump.
