RACE 1 - CUDDLES MAIDEN PLATE - 1200 metres

JAY JAY’S STAR dislodged C. Lever on the way to the barrier and galloped 800 metres before being caught by the Clerk of the Course. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of JAY JAY’S STAR at 12.20 p.m. C. Lever was examined by the Ambulance staff and declared fit to fulfil his remaining engagements.

OXFORD SCENE (B. Claridge) jumped away awkwardly and lost some ground.

Racing to the 300 metres OXFORD SCENE (B. Claridge) rolled in, resulting in CRIMSON SEEDLESS (P. Gatt) being taken in and inconveniencing MATTY’S DREAM (S. Price).

RACE 2 - VILI’S CAKES CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1350 metres

The start of this race was delayed due to OH SO SOFT being difficult to load. Mr. J. Gask, Trainer of OH SO SOFT, was advised the mare must complete a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before accepting for any future event.

OH SO SOFT (S. Tronerud) jumped away awkwardly.

When the gates were released BRIANNA BLONDIE (J. Lyon) shifted in and bumped PENTATONIC (D. Tootell).

Shortly after the start ENTICE (S. Price) shifted out and as a result MARIZZIQUE (C. Lindop) and OH SO SOFT (S. Tronerud) were hampered.

Racing to the 300 metres MARIZZIQUE (C. Lindop) had to be eased to avoid the heels of BRIANNA BLONDIE (J. Lyon), which commenced to weaken.

PENTATONIC lost its hear hind plate during the running of the race.

ENTICE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon subsequent to the event who reported no visible abnormalities.

RACE 3 - R V JORDAN / SABIS 2 YEARS & UP MAIDEN PLATE - 1600 metres

Racing to the 1200 metres BRIGHT AMBER (J. Potter) over-raced due to the lack of pace in the race.

Racing to the 1200 metres HOSTILE LAD (N. Tomizawa) shifted ground when pulling hard and as a result inconvenienced TASHILADO (M. Neilson).

FRENESI (K. Louca) over-raced in the middle stages of the race due to a lack of pace.

W. Kerford, rider of HEREWARD, reported he had elected to improve his position from the 1200 metres due to the poor pace in the race.

Racing to the 100 metres HOSTILE LAD (N. Tomizawa) and OUR KDAN (P. Gatt) brushed.

RACE 4 - MARY O’NEIL MEMORIAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1200 metres

DANCING IMAGE (C. Bryant) jumped away awkwardly.

BURRAN was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon subsequent to the event who reported no visible abnormalities.

SOUTHERN MARAUDER was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon subsequent to the event who reported the gelding was suffering some lameness in its off fore leg.

RACE 5 - MIRANDA WINES DISTANCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 2050 metres

An inquiry into S. Tsaikos failing to fulfil his riding engagement was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

RACE 6 - NEUTROG CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1600 metres

Over the concluding stages LUCENTIER (C. Lindop) and NAFIR (NZ) (M. Neilson) brushed.

THE GREAT GATSBY was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon subsequent to the race and found to have lacerated its off hind stifle, which required Veterinary attention.

RACE 7 - BERNARD BOOTH REAL ESTATE CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1200 metres

KID DAPPER (N. Tomizawa) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, inconveniencing RUSTIC OPAL (J. Bowditch), which in turn shifted out, hampering JUG FULL (C. Bryant), which shifted out inconveniencing ATLANTIC (S. Price).

C. Bryant, rider of JUG FULL, was charged under ARR 137 (c) for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post and fined $100.

RACE 8 - CATHOLIC CHURCH INSURANCE / SABIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE - 1350 metres

POKEMONSTER (J. Marks) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, hampering LOVE ‘N’ TRUST (J. Potter), which was also inconvenienced due to LENSWOOD (S. Price) shifting out.

JON’S ACCOUNT (P. Gatt) and PUSHING DAISIES (J. Holder) bumped when the gates were released.

JON’S ACCOUNT (P. Gatt) raced ungenerously in the vicinity of the 900 metres and had to be steadied when tightened for room by BELIEVE IN VICTORY (C. Lever), which was inconvenienced when FURANO (C. Bryant) shifted in.

Racing to the 500 metres JON’S ACCOUNT (P. Gatt) had to be eased when tightened for room by BELIEVE IN VICTORY (C. Lever), which was momentarily tightened by FURANO (C. Bryant). C. Bryant was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

Racing to the 400 metres RUSTIC HALO (J. Bowditch) and PUSHING DAISIES (J. Holder) bumped.

Racing to the 300 metres AUTOPLAY (C. Lindop) was disappointed for a run for some distance and had to be checked to avoid the heels of LENSWOOD (S. Price).

LOVE ‘N’ TRUST was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon subsequent to the event who reported the gelding suffered a unilateral nasal bleed. The Veterinary Surgeon further reported the nostril had been lacerated due to the horse hitting its head in the barrier.
