RACE 1 - NARACOORTE HIRE & SALES MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres

After being placed in the barrier SUPREME CONFIDENCE became fractious. The gelding underwent a Veterinary examination and was declared unfit to start. Acting on that advice Stewards withdrew SUPREME CONFIDENCE at 1.18 p.m. Mr. A. Carraill, Trainer of SUPREME CONFIDENCE, was advised that a warning was placed on the gelding and should it perform in a similar manner at the barrier in future, action may be taken against it.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on SUPREME CONFIDENCE be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN 16 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE 14 cents in the dollar.
SP bets are subject to the deductions.

RACE 2 - NARACOORTE MOTORCYCLES & MOWERS / SABIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE - 1430 metres

CARLY SHUFFLE (D. Yendall) and ESPECIALLY SMART (G. Hoobin) were slow to begin.

RACE 3 - ORMEROD CRASH / SABIS COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE - 1430 metres

Racing to the 450 metres PASSED OVER (J. Bowditch) was tightened for room by ZEDOS (C. Lever) which rolled in to avoid the heels of SEXY SENOR (K. Post) when the pace eased.

Subsequent to the race PASSED OVER underwent a Veterinary examination which revealed no visible abnormalities. Mr. G. Lesnikowski, Trainer of PASSED OVER, was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required prior to accepting for a future event.

RACE 4 - MOTT, FINNIS & CO CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 1430 metres

Shane Tronerud’s explanation for being doubly engaged in this event was accepted by Stewards.

Racing to the 200 metres NAFIR (NZ) (C. Lever) shifted in and as a result CASH EXCHANGE (J. Lyon) shifted away from that gelding, resulting in DEBT FREE (Shane Tronerud) being tightened for room.

Approaching the finish BOSENDORF (D. Yendall) jumped the shadow of the winning post.

RACE 5 - ADELAIDE WOOL CLASS 4 HANDICAP - 1200 metres

Prior to the running of the race GOLDEN KOLOLO, which had suffered a minor laceration to its near shoulder, underwent a Veterinary examination and was declared fit to start.

On the way to the barrier LANEMA dislodged Shane Tronerud. A Veterinary examination of LANEMA declared the mare fit to start. Shane Tronerud was cleared by the Medical Officers to fulfil his engagement.

LANEMA (Shane Tronerud) jumped away very awkwardly.

RARE PRAISE (NZ) (C. Robertson) raced ungenerously to the 1000 metres and hung out.

Racing to the 300 metres LANEMA (Shane Tronerud) hung out, resulting in PASSION PLAY (J. Lyon) and I’M HONOUR ROLL (NZ) (B. Neville) being taken wider on the track.

Racing to the 100 metres MISS BALHANNAH (D. Yendall) shifted out and as a result OUTBACK AUSSIE (C. Lindop) shifted out to avoid that mare’s heels and inconvenienced PINOT NOW (J. Bowditch).

RACE 6 - TNT LAKE CITY TRANSPORT / SABIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1100 metres

MORE MELBOURNE (S. Harrison) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 700 metres LAMBRUK (P. Marks) had to be steadied and rolled in, inconveniencing FULL BOAR (K. Post), which lost some ground and in consequence ROMANTIC LOUIE (B. Blacker) had to be eased to avoid that mare’s heels.

RACE 7 - COUNTRY ROADS MOTEL DISTANCE CLASS 2 HANDICAP - 2000 metres

OUR SPEED LINE (M. Hagley) jumped away awkwardly and brushed JEFFERSON (S. Harrison).

GENERAL:

Adjourned inquiry from Naracoorte on Sunday 16th February 2003.

Trainer Mr. R. Coote was fined $100 under ARR 160B for using a mobile ‘phone in a Restricted Area.

Shane Tronerud reported to Stewards that he was feeling some back soreness as a result of him being dislodged from LANEMA in Race 5.
