RACE 1 : - MORPHETTVILLE JUNCTION OPENING MONDAY HANDICAP 1600m

NASTIVE EDITION was withdrawn by Stewards at 11.50am due to B Constable not making his flight from Melbourne. B Constable will be interviewed by Stewards to ascertain the reason for his non arrival.

YOUNG WILLY (G Young) was slow to jump.

TAWTRICE (C Durden) jumped the first hurdle awkwardly.

Near the 400 metres, DASHING DANCER (W McLean) rolled in under pressure and tightened ZOFF’S LAD (G Preston).

FAMOUS PIRATE (J Wallace) knuckled on landing after jumping the hurdle in the vicinity of the 300 metres.

FAMOUS PIRATE suffered a severe laceration to the near fore fetlock during the race, which required first aid.

RACE 2 : - MORPHETTVILLE JUNCTION LUCKY HORSESHOE HANDICAP 1000m

Following advice from Mr L Smith trainer of HIDDEN CACHE that the filly had got down in the float, HIDDEN CACHE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and ruled fit to start.

OUR VAIN LAD (B Claridge) was inclined to rear on jumping away and shifted out abruptly hampering SPEC O’RAIN (J Lyon).

In the vicinity of the 600 metres, BARABBA ROAD (P Gatt) rolled in on to SPEC O’RAIN (J Lyon) resulting in that gelding being inclined to lay in.

Near the 500 metres SPEC O’RAIN (J Lyon), which continued to lay in rolled in and tightened OUR VAIN LAD (B Claridge).

Inside the 500 metres, JESTEQUITY (S Price) shifted in abruptly and had to be restrained off the heels of BARABBA ROAD (P Gatt).

JESTEQUITY (S Price) was inclined to race greenly under pressure in the straight.

MILITARY ATTIRE was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and found to be shin sore in both forelegs.

RACE 3 - MORPHETTVILLE JUNCTION WINNING POST SPORTS BAR HANDICAP 1460m

When questioned, J Holder the rider of LI LO LILL explained that in assessing the race with trainer Mr L Macdonald, it had been agreed to ride the filly forward as in their opinion the race lacked an obvious leader. J Holder stated as LI LO LILL had begun very well, and because it was racing in blinkers again, he had elected to lead rather than risk the filly over-

racing. He added, he was surprised at the pressure applied mid race by JADE STAR (H McKechnie) and felt that as a result, his mount had been made to carry its full weight. Mr L Macdonald the trainer of LI LO LILL confirmed his instructions.

When questioning her riding of JADE STAR from the 800 metres to the entrance of the straight, H McKechnie explained that she had been instructed to ride her mount in a similar manner to the mare’s previous start when successful at Edenhope. H McKechnie was advised her explanation would be recorded.

FONNIX was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon following the race and was found to be lame in the off fore knee. Mr C Bromley trainer of FONNIX was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness would be required before accepting for a future event.

STRAIGHT BY aggravated a small lesion inside its near hind pastern during the race.

RACE 4 - TUSCAN TABLE BRASSERIE - CHELTENHAM HANDICAP 1000m

CHEERS POP (W Kerford) and SAAYEB (NZ) (S Price) jumped away awkwardly.

On jumping away, POWER FROM PORT (B Vale) shifted in on to KING CROW (J Potter) taking that gelding in on to SAAYEB (NZ) (S Price), which was tightened in on to CHEERS POP (W Kerford) resulting in that gelding being hampered.

Near the 300 metres, SKIING (J Lyon) rolled in and brushed BLAIR (P Gatt), which was attempting to shift out to improve.

RACE 5 - MORPHETTVILLE JUNCTION SILKS BRASSERIE HANDICAP 1460m

RACHAEL’S PRIDE (H Akiyama) jumped away awkwardly.

KEETAH’S LADY (M Neilson) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly on to POWER TO RULE (J Potter) taking that gelding out on to BRANDY CRUSTER (C Bryant), which was taken out on to MAKING THE ROAD (P Gatt), which lost its position. As a result, POWER TO RULE (J Potter) and BRANDY CRUSTER (C Bryant) were hampered.

In the vicinity of the 500 metres, DEBBEN (J Holder), whilst trailing KEETAH’S LADY (M Neilson) became held up for a short distance.

KEETAH’S LADY (M Neilson) hung out from approximately the 500 metres until entering the straight. In consequence GLENARA (S Price) was inclined to shift out and away from that filly. KEETAH’S LADY was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported no visible abnormalities.

P Gatt the rider of MAKING THE ROAD reported his filly had changed legs on a number of occasions when under pressure in the straight. MAKING THE ROAD was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported that the filly had suffered abrasions to the off fore cannon and damage to the off fore hoof wall.

RACE 6 - MORPHETTVILLE JUNCTION BIRTHDAY CUP HANDICAP 1810m

Near the 200 metres, TALANTO (C Lindop) shifted out and contacted BURLEIGH (W Kerford) resulting in that gelding becoming unbalanced. C Lindop was reprimanded and advised in future, to shift ground only when entitled to do so.

OXFORD DOLLAR, which performed poorly, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon who reported the gelding had a lower than expected heart rate.

RACE 7 - MORPHETTVILLE JUNCTION - THE ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX HANDICAP 1360m

HI TAIL jumped away awkwardly.

RACE 8 - MORPHETTVILLE JUNCTION STABLE BALLROOM HANDICAP 1260m

Shortly after the start, JEUNALIST (C Bryant) shifted out and contacted SIGNAL HILL (H Akiyama).

Near the 1200 metres HERESY (W Kerford) shifted in and tightened SIGNAL HILL (H Akiyama) on to the hindquarters of JEUNALIST (C Bryant), resulting in that gelding being unbalanced and SIGNAL HILL (H Akiyama) being hampered. SIGNAL HILL (H Akiyama) got its head up and raced ungenerously thereafter.

Near the 800 metres PRIOR LEADER (N Tomizawa), which was inclined to lay away from the rail, rolled out on to JEUNALIST (C Bryant) taking that colt out and tightening CARDONAGH (J Potter) resulting in that filly losing its position and in being restrained, shifted out across the heels of HOT FLICKS (J Lyon).

Inside the 600 metres, FLASH HENRY (M Neilson) was inclined to lay out and continued to lay out for the remainder of the event.

Ben Grimston rider of SMOOTH TAKEOFF was severely reprimanded for excessive gestulation after passing the winning post.
