RACE 1 - TASTE THE LINESTONE COAST / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE - 1000 metres

Racing to the 400 metres GOLD CUFFS (T. Barras) had to be eased as a result of SUPREME CONFIDENCE (G. Hoobin) shifting out, at the same time as MIL LEL (W. Kerford) shifting in.

T. Barras, rider of GOLD CUFFS, explained that racing to the 100 metres he attempted to ease the gelding to avoid the heels of the weakening ALLUDING (J. Bowditch), but in doing so GOLD CUFFS shifted out, clipping the heels of ALLUDING, and falling. T. Barras was taken to the Naracoorte Hospital for further observations and declared unfit to ride for the remainder of the day. Subsequently T. Barras was found to have injured his knee during the incident. GOLD CUFFS suffered some minor lacerations to both hind legs.

RACE 2 - SOUTH AUSTRALIAN LIVESTOCK / SABIS FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE (1st Division) - 1430 metres

M. Neilson, rider of MISS STRESS, was found guilty of a charge of Careless Riding in that racing to the 500 metres he shifted out when insufficiently clear of COOL RANSOM (C. Lindop), resulting in that gelding being checked and forced out onto the heels of YANI GIRL (T. Barry) and as a result TOAST TO LENNY (J. Bowditch), SEACOAL LANE (W. Kerford) and EBONLEIGH (C. Puls) were all inconvenienced. M. Neilson was subsequently suspended from riding in races from midnight 19th February until midnight 1st March 2003. A period of five meetings.

Correct Weight was delayed to permit B. Claridge, rider of ZAKNIYA 2nd Placegetter, to view the official photo-finish of the race. The Judge explained the computer image of the finish was unavailable as it was unable to be displayed on the screen. B. Claridge was advised that as the Judge and the Assistant Judge had visually placed his mount second, and prior to the computer image malfunctioning had also viewed the computer image, Correct Weight was declared.

RACE 3 - SUNSMART / SABIS MAIDEN PLATE (2nd Division) - 1430 metres

Racing to the 500 metres JET LANE (D. Yendall), which was racing greenly, was tightened for room and lost its position, due to BAG OF PEARLS (K. Post) being brushed by STAR LAND (P. Marks), which laid in throughout the race.

RACE 4 - NEIL OTTOSON FIRST NATIONAL CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1000 metres

Racing to the 300 metres LINDROS (B. Claridge) shifted out and brushed EL VANA (J. Bowditch).

Racing to the 100 metres CHOCKO (J. Lyon) shifted to the outside of FIESTA SHOW (C. Lindop), to obtain a clear run and at the same time FIESTA SHOW commenced to shift out slightly and as a result CHOCKO became unbalanced and made heavy contact with LINDROS (B. Claridge), which in turn shifted out and bumped OUTBACK AUSSIE (D. Tootell), turning that gelding inwards. EL VANA (J. Bowditch), racing on the outside of OUTBACK AUSSIE, was also hampered. As a result of this incident LINDROS and CHOCKO continued to race and collide with each other on several occasions until reaching the winning post.

RACE 5 - MAYFIELDS PROPRIETORS CLASS 3 HANDICAP - 1430 metres

RACE 7 - MINI JUMBUK NARACOORTE CUP - 2000 metres

AMEN OUR WRAY (C. Lindop) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 900 metres HILTON GOLD (G. Hoobin) had to be eased out of the race as that mare had broken down. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed the horse had broken down in its near fore leg.

RACE 8 - BARRETT’S DISTRIBUTORS HANDICAP - 1430 metres

MOOTIARA (C. Lever) was slow to begin.

Racing to the 1400 metres GRENOUILLE (N. Mehmet ) raced ungenerously.

Racing to the 300 metres BRINKLEY LASS (D. Cleaver) shifted out and inconvenienced CASINO EVIL (D. Yendall). D. Cleaver was advised to exercise more care.

Racing inside the 200 metres BOUFFANT (M. Neilson) shifted in and as a result inconvenienced RIDE THE STORM (C. Buchiw).

RACE 9 - ORIGIN ENERGY CLASS 1 HANDICAP - 1200 metres

NAIMH (N. Mehmet) jumped away awkwardly and was slow to begin.

SNOBBY SAINT (G. Hoobin) raced very fiercely in the early and middle stages of the race and had to be severely restrained by G. Hoobin to avoid the heels of runners in front racing to the 900 and then again at the 500 metres.

Racing to the 900 metres CAPTAIN COSMIC (N. Tomizawa) rolled out and brushed WOODBYNE FLYER (K. Post), which in turn shifted out, inconveniencing HILTON CROWN (C. Lever) and JAYEM (S. Harrison).

Racing to the 600 metres WOODBYNE FLYER (K. Post) rolled out and bumped HILTON CROWN (C. Lever).

GENERAL:

An inquiry into the reason for Mr. Dick Coote using his mobile phone in the Mounting Yard was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
