Morphettville Set for a Magical Wednesday

The eagerly anticipated Magic Millions race day, featuring the $400,000 Magic Millions Adelaide 2-year-old Classic, takes place this Wednesday at Morphettville Racecourse.

The meeting preludes the yearling sales that start at 6pm after the races have been completed.

The South Australian Jockey Club, Magic Millions and SA Great are expecting a 600 strong capacity attendance at the day’s official luncheon, where entrepreneur Gerry Harvey and renowned trainer, Gai Waterhouse will be attending as the special guest speakers.

There are nine races programmed for the day, the first at 11.50am. The principal race will be run as Race 7 at 3.27pm.

There is a field of 16 runners destined to line up with starters from the leading stables of Lee Freedman, Gai Waterhouse, Tony McEvoy and John Hawkes. This year’s rendition is considered the strongest and most competitive Magic Millions race run in Adelaide to date.

Favourites are likely to be Lindsay Park’s unbeaten Fragmentation and Damien Oliver’s ride, Resolved who may have had its chances dented by drawing the outside barrier.

Another eye catching presence on course will be the Grand Lady Gown, a rare unique attraction if ever there was one. The dress consists of 120,000 gold formed links and 1500 diamond shaped configurations, which is 24 carat gold clad.
