SHE’S A CARD was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 10.22 a.m., acting on a confirmed advice from the Trainer Mr. P. Stokes that the filly had injured itself when being loaded on the float.

Racing to the 300 metres SUNRISE SOARING (P. Gatt) shifted in and as a result BAHARIYA (Darren Holland) shifted away from that colt, resulting in MISS ISHII (B. Claridge) being taken in and hampering KING VOE (P. Marks), which became unbalanced and lost its position.

Over the final 50 metres SUNRISE SOARING (P. Gatt) laid in and as a result that rider had to stop riding and straighten his mount.

AMYJAYE GOLD (C. Lever) shifted out abruptly approaching the winning post.

RACE 5 – SUPA SALAD TOMATO CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1006 metres

POP’S TAURUS was a late scratching by Stewards at 3.02 p.m., acting on Veterinary advice, when that gelding reared in the stalls and became cast.

While the Barrier Attendants were attempting to release POP’S TAURUS from being cast in the barrier KINGSFOLD FLAME (J. Marks) broke through the front of the stalls, and after galloping approximately 600 metres was withdrawn by order of the Stewards, acting on Veterinary advice at 3.05 p.m.

Stewards ruled that all monies invested on POP’S TAURUS and KINGSFOLD FLAME be refunded. Bets made on other runners prior to the withdrawal were to be paid on the face value of the ticket less:
Bets for a WIN 36 cents in the dollar, and
Bets for a PLACE 36 cents in the dollar.
SP bets are subject to the deductions.

Racing to the 700 metres JUST DO IT NOW (B. Claridge) over-raced and shifted out, inconveniencing JEMOON (S. Tronerud), which in turn shifted out and made contact with EL VANA (J. Bowditch).

J. Bowditch, rider of EL VANA, explained the mare laid in over the concluding stages of the race. A subsequent Veterinary examination of EL VANA revealed it was lame in off fore leg. Trainer Mr. M. Seyers was advised that a Veterinary Certificate of Fitness to Race would be required for EL VANA prior to accepting for a future event.

RACE 6 – SCALZI PRODUCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1206 metres

MANIRAQ (C. Buchiw) jumped away awkwardly and shortly after the start was inconvenienced due to WEST STREET (B. Vale) shifting in, away from SHEZA RIPPA (D. Carney), when that mare shifted in.

ROMANTIC LOUIE (K. Stra) jumped away awkwardly and inconvenienced AMBER COURT (J. Potter).

Bella Bianco (J. Bowditch) jumped away awkwardly.

Correct Weight was delayed to permit C. Lever, rider of MADUTINA Placed 2nd, to view the head-on and side-on video footage of the race. C. Lever lodged an objection against the winner SHEZA RIPPA (D. Carney), on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 100 metres. After considering the evidence, viewing the official vision and acting on their own observations, Stewards upheld the objection.

The placings were amended to:
First 4 MADUTINA (C. Lever)
Second 3 SHEZA RIPPA (D. Carney)
Third 1 RURAL FORREST (P. Gatt)
Fourth 11 SPECIAL TEAMS (S. Price)
Fifth 14 WEST STREET (B. Vale)

Over the final 100 metres SHEZA RIPPA (D. Carney) shifted out, resulting in MADUTINA (C. Lever) being taken wider, and approaching the winning post SHEZA RIPPA made contact with MADUTINA, forcing that filly out and as a result RURAL FORREST (P. Gatt) was taken wider. D. After passing the 200 metres DIVINYL (NZ) (J. Maund) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of CLASSICAL ROCK (S. Tronerud), when that gelding shifted out under pressure.

RACE 8 – TERRA SEEDS MAIDEN PLATE – 1406 metres

Racing to the 300 metres GO TAMMY (S. Tronerud) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of HEREWARD (B. Grimston), when that gelding shifted in abruptly. B. Grimston was advised he should exercise greater care in similar circumstances.

S. Price, rider of RESERVE FUNDS (NZ), explained the gelding wanted to hang in throughout the race and had failed to compete at any stage of the race. A subsequent Veterinary examination of RESERVE FUNDS (NZ) revealed the gelding was suffering from a heart irregularity. Mr. S. Lockhart, representing Trainer Mr. A. McEvoy, was advised that an ECG for RESERVE FUNDS must be forwarded to the TRSA Veterinary Surgeon, and the gelding must complete a Barrier Trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before accepting for any future event.
